Re: Closures of DCT titles

Thanks very much for your replies. There is such an amazing amount of knowledge pooled in this forum.

When did The Beezer go down? That was always one of my favourites.

Closures of DCT titles

My apologies if this is covered elsewhere, and/or if this is the wrong thread to raise this . . . Can anyone tell me, in chronological order, when each DC Thomson title fell, and what exactly is left from this publisher in paper format? From what I can gather it's going to be the Dennis the Menace c...

Re: Power Comics

I gets more fascinating with every post. I don't remember other editors using their real names in comics (except in the 70s by people like Dez Skinn). They always seemed to call themselves 'Ed'. Am I wrong about that?

Re: Power Comics

That's fascinating. Thanks very much for your replies, taking the time to post those scans, and for the welcome. I must admit I always pictured Alf and Bart as two much older men. These pics of Alf are extraordinary for me. I wonder if they are both still with us. They would be absolute gold to have...

Re: Collected reprints

Yes I find it more relaxing reading from paper too, plus I guess it's closer to the original experience and therefore enhances the feeling of 'being back there'. Digital may be the only possible outlet as you say. I can read digital scans but (even with correct sitting/viewing alignment) my eyes get...

Collected reprints

Has there ever been a serious attempt to republish older British comics? I'm not talking about those one-off (but always welcome) nostalgia books that drift their why into 'Just Books' – I'm thinking more on the lines of the hard/softback collected editions that Marvel/DC have in the states (ie Marv...

Power Comics

Does anyone know if any photos exist of 'Alf and Bart'. I was also wondering if the offices still exist? I had a look on Streetview and the area looks redeveloped, but maybe I'm wrong.

Re: The Twister (or something like that)

Amazing - thanks very much. I didn't realise it ran for so long actually.

The Twister (or something like that)

Had a scan through the topics but can't find a reference to this mini-series. It kind of stood out for me in the same way as Jellymen and Iron Eaters. It featured a mysterious ice cream van that played a tune that hypnotised the kids who heard it. I think the ice creams may have been spiked too. The...
