Re: Susy - French Comic
I have a French comic called Cathy which featured Cat Girl ('Fille-Chat') from the British comic Sally.

Re: Treasury of British Comics release schedule
My apologies Steve. Checking my own copy again I can now see that pages 44 & 45 are repeated after all - but in this case on pages 52 & 49! (I was confused by the fact that the page numbers aren't repeated). Very strange - perhaps it's some kind of weird computer glitch?

DC Thomson Artist John Batchelor.
John Batchelor was an artist with an amazing pen & ink technique who drew for comics like DC Thomson's Romeo during the late 1950s and early 1960s. As this example from a comic strip biography of Marilyn Monroe shows he also had a real talent for capturing accurate likenesses. However, one thing I'v...

Re: Weather or not...
I liked how London always tended to get the worst of it in strips like 'The Great Flood Of London' as I reckoned it served them right for all those national broadcasters who used to talk as though the weather in the South East corner of England was all that really mattered, and that nobody cared abo...

Re: Looking for first appearance of Miss Bigger
Mergers were generally a way of transferring readers and subscriptions from one title to another so there always had to be at least a couple of series from the cancelled title which continued in the new one. Unfortunately this often meant that the dominant comic in the merger ran the risk of being s...

Re: Looking for first appearance of Miss Bigger
Great to see that Goof! As a matter of interest does anybody remember if those annoying bleed-throughs were apparent when the comics were published, or has the ink gradually seeped into the paper over time?

Re: Rebellion Trigan Empire
I agree that the scripting gets a bit repetitive after a while, but nothing could ever compare with the opening episodes in Ranger.

Re: Seeking 'Phantom of the Fells' (Bunty?)
The 1980 Strips portfolio produced by the Society of Strip Illustration includes this short biography of Richardson: "John was born in 1943. He became involved in the strip profession rather late, in the early seventies, when DC Thomsons gave him a chance to draw a strip in their Bunty title. This l...

Here's a nice Aunt Isobel page by Otway. As you say Norman, he had a wonderful knack for drawing women's heads at an angle that emphasized their expression.

Re: If we had a list of the 100 greatest serials in girls co
I know what you mean about that profile Norman, but oddly enough Leslie Otway did draw some later episodes of Aunt Isobel and the difference in styles is immediately obvious, though they were both brilliant artists. In fact since I posted that page I've picked up the original art for it as well as a...

Re: Which titles would you like to see indexed?
I think Denis produced a lot of one and two page fillers for Len Miller's black & white reprint titles which were Alan's main competition for a time.
