Re: Advert for Nutty no.1

I remember getting that issue 1! I remember the spacedust too. sniff. brings a tear to my eye seeing that advert. I wonder what happened to my copy? Didn't they give away an actual Nutty bar in one of the next issues or am I imagining that? :)

Re: DFC NO:1

@Garen

I was told that "Damn" was short for "Damn you to hell", so it can be pretty strong if you believe in that sort of thing. That's where "Blow" (you to hell) and "Blast" (you to hell) come from too, apparently.

Can't you use "fiddlesticks" instead. Or is that just plain rude? haha.

Re: Did you / do you actually find old british comics funny?

It's a bit of a generalization isn't it? It's like asking if people find tv comedy funny. Some shows are, others aren't. I've laughed out loud at some work by Leo Baxendale, Ken Reid and Jamie Smart for example, but I don't recall Cor!! even raising a smile. Lew Haha yeah you're right. but I guess ...

Did you / do you actually find old british comics funny?

As a kid, I always loved the comics, cos of the "comicness" - the drawings, presentation, typography etc ....even the smell of the paper and ink, but I never really found them funny. While my friend actually really ho ho ho-ed out loud to the Jocks and the Geordies etc, I was left wondering why it h...

The Rest of Solar Wind

Ok, I'm biased, but the last issue of Solar Wind is great!! And has some really funny strips in it. plus some informative articles and diagrams on IPC and DC thomson comic mergers over the ages and spotlights on Battler Britton and Tharg style fictional editors. Plus a free gift on the cover. Go buy...

Cheap ideas for comics to sell more

Some good ideas..... seems like they opt for the free gift more and more in kids mags these days - - Proper detailed ideas, like the Krazy back cover's disguise, or the Mad magazine fold-in and marginal cartoons used to be a draw for long term readers, but would maybe have a hard time these days if ...
