A few bits and bobs:

Disney Time #1 - 1977
12 commando comics from the last few years to fill some gaps
Attack! #1 - Hill 70 - 1962
4 more Smash comics
Shock #1 - Portman - 1979
The Complete Nemesis the Warlock book 1 - Don't know much but something appealed to me so I bought it to see whether it's worth getting the other books.
100+ Commando comics between 850 and 1020 filling in most of my gaps. Only 1 needed in the 900s and 3 in the 1000s to complete all of them from 900 to 2600. Still loads of gaps to go though!

The last issue I got back in the day was Dec 21, 1985.... and finally an eBay auction appeared for Dec 28. Was torture waiting for the auction to close, but I managed to win it to complete my 1985 set. When that arrives I can continue where I left off all those years ago (after a quick refresher).
it is torture  i only need 1 issue to complete the who;e weekly run and never see it offered and will not buy a complete 1983 run just to finish.
I did consider buying a year set, but thought NO, I can't do that for one issue  Everything else I've grabbed has had a Buy It Now on it, but of course this one had to be a 10 day auction.... and someone else placed a bid they day before it ended, couldn't believe it!

So do I. She does see their sons Richard and Thomas regularly and of course she also has her beloved Burnley F.C. season ticket. She seemed on the verge of tears when we left the shop though. Mind you, we do go back a long way because I first met Carole and Victor in the mid-eighties when there were Comic Fairs in a basement room of the Piccadilly Plaza Hotel in Manchester, and then met them again at the monthly Book Fairs in Pudsey Civic Hall and the periodic Book Fairs at Haydock Park. It was always worth going to the Manchester Fairs because there were at least six dealers present with many a pile of Adventures, Rovers, Wizards and Hotspurs. I wasn't collecting their story papers for girls at that time although I might have dabbled had I ever seen any. However, thinking about it, I probably wouldn't as their serials were in picture form, a presentation that it took me many a long year to appreciate. It was also at Pudsey where I was first alerted to the existence of Billy Nicholls as another Thomson aficionado. The dealer was called Roger Jordan, who had travelled up from Derby, and as we had collecting interests in common, he gave me Billy's phone number. We've been meeting up periodically ever since, and he certainly attended most of the talks on matters DCT that I gave to the members of the Old Boys' Book Club (Northern Section) in Leeds, reports of which invariably appeared in the next issue of Story Paper Collectors' Digest.

The shiver and shake turned up.

Amazingly the missing three are from later on in the run with the first missing issue being late November 73. So that's a nice surprise.

Def going to get these bound up as a three volume full set when I've picked up the missing issues.

Yeah I was pretty chuffed when I saw the first three, though I guess unless you know to look at the back then it's kinda difficult to know which issue is which as they're not numbered on the front.

I bought a full run this year on eBay for £40.

The compal price was incredible.
I've just bought the full run including the first 3 valiant crossovers for £49 on ebay. Maybe i should send them over to Compal!
