Victor or Rover and Wizard story

Post by Don »

Mid-60s there was a story about a Dundee whaler who became stranded on the Arctic ice, was befriended by Eskimos and taught them to play football. They called the game "Apdandi", because the whaler used to shout, "Up Dundee!" during their kickabouts.
Anyone got more info on this?

Don,this is ringing a massive bell for me and yet I wasn't born until the late 60s so may have read a reprint of a chapter in a later annual.
I'm guessing Rover due to the football connection,I don't know the answer but very interesting.

It might have been a one-off feature rather than a series.

Hi Don,
That is exactly what it was I think. There was a whole series of one page picture features devoted to English and Scottish football club histories. If so, certainly Rover, not Victor.
