It does worry me a little that the selection of the two stories seems to be mostly down to Pat Mills, with no very clear indication (per my most recent interview with Rebellion's Ben Smith) that the current publishers have sat and read through the stories with a fresh eye to choose what they think will work best in the current market. Pat is no fool, but he does have favourites. So do we all, but I'd have felt happier to know that someone else had also validated that selection. I also listened to a bit of the recent Thrill Power podcast, which again has Ben Smith giving all the credit to Pat Mills for the reprint. Fair enough to credit him with the original impulse and a good chunk of help, but I'd have liked to have heard Rebellion saying that they'd read the material themselves and being enthusiastic about it from their direct experience, rather than because of the big name draw factor.
jintycomic.wordpress.com/ Excellent and weird stories from the past - with amazing art to boot.

They seem very enthusiastic about this especially if they are also thinking about printing stories from another comic.
Reading comics since 1970. My Current Regulars are: 2000 AD (1977-), Judge Dredd Megazine (1990-), Spaceship Away (2003-), Commando (2013-), Monster Fun (2022-), Deadpool and Wolverine (2023-), Quantum (2023-).

Now that the reprint book is out, I have taken a look at it from the point of view of the editorial and publishing choices specifically (ie have Rebellion done a good job). Answer - yes, with room for some improvement, but a solid hit.

Here's my post on it:

Good review, Jenni! I haven't seen the book yet so it's good to read about the production values. I might be put off if the finer lines of John Armstrong's art have dropped out as I find that sort of thing distracting but I'll wait until I see a copy to decide.

It'll be interesting to see what books Rebellion do next. More from Misty would be welcome.

Glad the review met with approval - it seemed a bit odd in some ways to focus so much on the publishing choices rather than the story content but that's specifically why I wanted to look at it in print, after all I already know the stories :)

I suspect the next choices are likely to be from another title, or from a mixture of titles in one volume perhaps. But there is lots of great stuff from Misty of course so it won't be long before we see more, I am sure.

Yes, I expect we'll see something from Action or Battle next, or possibly from the '90s comics like Revolver (or was Revolver material creator owned)?

Just have reading the Misty book. A great read and a reminder of how entertaining British comics were.

I've currently got the murderous task of reviewing Volume 2 of the 2000AD Dan Dare stories, so it's a dirty job but someone's got to do it! And seeing the Ian Kennedy cover in print is just so hard to me to endure...
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!
