Next step for readers of 'bagged gift' comics?

Post by Michael Anden »

I was wondering that since there's obviously a healthy market for titles such as 'Toxic', 'Epic', 'Mega' and 'Wa-hey!' (I just made the last one up) that are brimming with plastic tat and extremely parsimonious on strip material - or indeed reading material of any kind - is there any way for publishers to get such readers as they grow out of these titles to progress more toward comics rather purely video games and social media? Or do you think this is entirely in the hands of blind market forces and there is nothing that those involved in comics can do to appeal to readers (or maybe more accurately consumers) who are growing out of such titles?
