The thing I disliked about the re-imagined Spider in particular was that he might just as well have been a brand new character. As with so many of these reboots it meant that years of fascinating characterisation and continuity were thrown away at a stroke for no good reason. I much preferred Alan Moore's approach with Marvelman where an existing hero was given added depth without actually contradicting anything that had gone before.

Got to agree with that, whats the point of rebooting old characters if you're not going to keep the traits that made them who they are in the first place. Marvelman is an extremely good example - the reboot actually gave us a brand new character with all of his back story intact and actually very cleverly done, Dr Gargunza especially was fantastically well build upon with a back story that fitted exactly.

But then that was from Alan Moore - very few writers (if any) could have accomplished it in quite the same way.

Count me as someone else who didn't like the 2000AD Action Special, though there was some nceart in it, especially John Burns on Doctor Sin and Shaky Kane on Mytek The Mighty. Most of the stories were gratuitously dark, vile and nasty, which is why I didn't like the special.

Sorry. 'Nceart' should be 'nice art'. Memo to self: write, then check, then submit.

I seem to remember both these titles trying to launch new material several years ago.

The Misty one was selling through the Mistycomic site and looked liked it was professionally done.

The Scream one was I think through Backfromthedepths site and to be honest looked like a bunch of fan art. I think it may have been some sort of aniversary.

Not sure if that was ever released.

Does anyone else remember these?? May have been 7 or 8 years ago.!!

In case anybody hasn't heard, Rebellion have made a welcome announcement that there will now be two alternative covers for this Special: one with a large Scream logo and another in which Misty is more prominent (though the contents will be the same). The only trouble is I'll now be tempted to buy both!

A great marketing ploy which works since I will buying both covers too.

My wallet is going to busy in a few weeks' time. Not only Scream! & Misty (or Misty & Scream!) is coming out but also Marney the Fox and The Dracula Files.

According to Lew Stringer's blog, the variant cover is for comic shops, rather than for general sale.

Re comics with three logos on the cover, back in the sixties there was June And School Friend And Princess Library, which ran from 1966 to 1969.

There's a little information, and lots of covers, at https://www.comics.org/series/68274/

Ordered. :D

I still think since one of the strips comes from Thunder the special should be called Scream! and Misty and also Thunder (Misty and Scream! and also Thunder).

Rebellion have kindly sent me a PDF of the special. I can't show any pages until Saturday but it's very nicely produced with some very interesting surprise cameos in there we didn't expect.

It's not aimed at young kids though, like the old Scream and Misty comics. I'd say it was suitable for teens upwards.

2000AD has "Thrill Power". For this, they've coined a new phrase; "Chill Power". Brilliant!

I'll be away on Saturday, so won't be able to post images here, but I'll pre-set my blog to show a preview on that day.
