Aiming to become the definitive guide to British comics

I can't reveal it until Rebellion do, but it's not Frankie or Jasper as at present they're owned by Time Inc. who sadly have no plans to reprint UK comic strips. (Any books that appear to be so are unofficial.)big bad bri wrote:Can't wait to see this but wish you would have said the name of the next ken reid book due I hope its Frankie Stein or Jasper the Grasper.
i think he had a strip called queen of the seas or something like that in buster too.lovely looking strip which i will read if i ever get the website of the ground but it needs to be a free one i can findkoollectablz wrote:If its not Frankie (I've love a Frankie collection) or Jasper then I'm at a loss, the nervs maybe?
I cant see them doing just a poster book.
Rebellion only own material that was published post-1970, so unfortunately can't publish anything from Wham, Smash, or Pow.koollectablz wrote:If its not Frankie (I've love a Frankie collection) or Jasper then I'm at a loss, the nervs maybe?

Queen of the Seas was a reprint from Smash, so Rebellion can't use that I'm afraid.big bad bri wrote:i think he had a strip called queen of the seas or something like that in buster too.lovely looking strip which i will read if i ever get the website of the ground but it needs to be a free one i can findkoollectablz wrote:If its not Frankie (I've love a Frankie collection) or Jasper then I'm at a loss, the nervs maybe?

Yes, as the editor has mentioned it when he posted a comment on my blog, I guess it's ok to reveal that it's going to be Creepy Creations, and later they'll be doing World Wide Weirdies.big bad bri wrote:i think i know now according to Lew's wink on twitter
I think all their books are scanned from the comics (but they look great). Unfortunately, IPC destroyed a load of artwork years ago, and the remnants were sold off. Hopefully Creepy Creations will be in colour.philcom55 wrote:Oh that's excellent. I wonder if they'll have to copy them from the printed comics though? If so the colouring could make it difficult to produce really sharp copies.
so there's hope for all 440 of tom thug strips in hardback.i hope faceache is the 1st of many humour collections.Lew Stringer wrote:I think all their books are scanned from the comics (but they look great). (It's a shame Ken didn't ask for his artwork back when Buster were returning it. As I've said before, I had all of my pages back - and Fleetway paid for postage, - and so did another artist, - Tom Paterson I think, - but none of the old guard of artists wanted theirs returned. I guess they'd been conditioned to believe it had no worth. )
Except that I've sold loads of my Tom pages on eBay so they'd have to scan from the comics anyway.big bad bri wrote:so there's hope for all 440 of tom thug strips in hardback.i hope faceache is the 1st of many humour collections.Lew Stringer wrote:I think all their books are scanned from the comics (but they look great).
