Game time.
Name a comic and tell us the name of an equivalent (past or present) and your reasoning if any.
Example:
Cheeky Weekly
Equivalent: Buster
Both were based around a child character and at times had similar designed covers.
There are no wrong answer and the same comic can be named more than once.
And if you don't agree with a suggestion, just make your own.
Enjoy.

Game: Name Your Equivalent
Reading comics since 1970. My Current Regulars are: 2000 AD (1977-), Judge Dredd Megazine (1990-), Spaceship Away (2003-), Commando (2013-), Monster Fun (2022-), Deadpool and Wolverine (2023-), Quantum (2023-).

Comic: 2000AD.
Equivalent: Warrior.
To me, Warrior was like an older version of 2000AD before it matured. Any of the strips could easily exist in 2000AD today.

Obvious one:
Comic: Action.
Equivalent: Bullet.
Comics produced by rival firms out at the same time.

I might actually go for Star*Lord and Warrior. Had Fleetway held it's nerve and continued with it's monthly schedule, I think we would have seen something closer to Warrior sooner.SID wrote:Comic: 2000AD.

I can't argue with you there, Starscape.starscape wrote:I might actually go for Star*Lord and Warrior. Had Fleetway held it's nerve and continued with it's monthly schedule, I think we would have seen something closer to Warrior sooner.SID wrote:Comic: 2000AD.

As it stood, Starlord was an easy choice to be an equivalent of 2000AD of the time where the strips could have easily been interchanged.
However, as I recall; Starlord originally was supposed to be aimed a more mature readership? So if allowed to evolve, as you say could have easily been an equivalent to Warrior or even CLiNT.

Pretty obvious but Countdown and TV Century 21 although not much age between them and TV21 New series was still going. Another would be Mighty World of Marvel and Fantastic.
