It is with regret that I have to announce that my father, Maurice Dodd, creator of The Perishers, died on the evening of New Year's Eve, 2005, after having suffered a brain haemorrhage.
A true creative genius of the strip form

I have a few of the omnibus books....they are much better reading in book form....always like the crabs seeing the great eyeballs every year. It was a childhood which looking now, looks very bleak. Ketchup sandwich!! Jamie Oliver came across this recently at a school on his program.....maybe he was a Perisher fan:)

We salute you Maurice Dodd.

That's terrible news. I know Bill Mevin, the artist on the Perishers, and spoke to him before Christmas. I hadn't heard of Maurice Dodd's death before this post, so I called Bill to see if he's okay. He has known Maurice for some considerable time, so it's a personal shock and tragedy, as well as a professional one.

This also puts the future of the strip in some doubt, but I gather a decision will be made before the end of the month.

Is there any kind of on-line petition for the continuation of the Perishers?

Apparently, someone will be taking over the strip in March.

Oh? What is your source for that? Even Bill Mevin didn't know what the decision was yet...

There is a contact email for Maurice Dodds family if you follow the link above.
And I don't think I made it clear I was just reporting the news--oops
