I was thinking of making a Whoopee website and was wondering...Does anybody know what has happened with... Joe McCaffery, Nick Baker, Tom Paterson, Mike Lacey, Brian Walker, Trevor Metcalfe, Terry Bave and Sid Burgon, who used to draw for Whoopee? If so are there any emails for them? Can you list them please? Thanks!

http://www.toonhound.com has a lot of comic cartoonist interviews with e.g. Trevor Metcalfe with a link to his website and email. On my websites there are emails to the artists. check the guestbooks for Terry Bave,

Tom Paterson is a private man.......he doesn't use a computer.

Trevor Metcalfe is very nice & approachable. Mike Lacey.... he is the eternal mystery, no one knows what happened to him. I have heard that Sid Burgon is not in the best of health these days.... I think it's Sid I'm thinking about....

I'm sure your enquiry is genuine but I think if anyone had such personal info they might be wary of disclosing it to an anonymous source. Also, as netbots are programmed to pick up e-mail addresses from groups like this and then send them spam, it's not advisable for anyone to publish those e-mail addresses on a public forum without their consent.

Lew is dead right - I was a bit annoyed that a fellow comic fan (in good faith) used my personal email on a website instead of one I give out specially for correspondence. You just get picked up by a webbot or spider and no end of crap in your inbox!

I find the best way is for people who know these artists to forward messages - either by post or email - on behalf of the people wishing to contact them, and then the artist can decide if they wish to respond.

It might be worth you looking at a few comics to see if they're working for them. For example, Tom Paterson and Terry Metcalfe do lots of work for DC Thomson. Brian Walker works for Viz. Surely you'd be better off contacting publishers instead of your fellow readers?

I know Brian Walker. He lives near me, just outside Bristol. Did a wonderful 'Mike's Bike' (Jackpot) 20 year anniversary painting for me, which hangs in my hall.

I hear that there will DEFINITELY be a 25th anniversary strip of Mike's Bike published on the net soon. The artist though I am unsure of.
