Hi all.

I have recently started a blog named Blog Blowfish. Although not wholly about comics, I am doing a feature on the History of the British Comic industry. I have not mentioned absolutely every comic, but I hope to talk about every one I feel was influential enough. I would love it if you guys could read it through and tell me if I have made any mistakes. I would love it if some of you guys could leave some comments however critical!

You can find the blog here

and the comic post here

Just a couple of points with regard to Film Fun. It actually merged with Buster in Sept 1962 not 1965 and it didn't run for 2225 issues. Denis Gifford originally came up with this figure by simply counting the weeks between Jan 1920 and Sept 1962, the lenght of Film Fun's run. But this didn't take into account the weeks that Film Fun missed due to strike action etc.

You may consider this point a bit unnecessary, Dunder Ed, but in my opinion, if you wish to be accepted as an authority on your chosen subject, it would make sense not to have a mistake in the colour panel at the head of your blog. You are obviously intending the scan to be of The Big Five text story papers, but representing The Hotspur you are using issue 397 from 1967, during its second coming as a picture story paper, by which time all the text story papers apart from The Rover had bitten the dust. Any copy from the original text series of The Hotspur, which ended with issue 1197 on October 17 1959, will be preferable to your issue 397. It goes without saying that I wish you well with your blog because any writings on D. C. Thomsons' output for boys or girls will always engage my attention.

Thanks for the help. As my oldest comic in my collection is a Beano from 1949, I really didn't have must knowledge of the earlier comics and thus had to do more research. I will amend the dates I have cited for Film Fun, and in future I will try and make the header images for in date. I am glad you read it and pointed out these mistakes, I would hate to misinform my readers!

:offtopic1: If any would like me to link to their blog I would be happy to oblige.

Given that your left-hand pair are post-war issues and your middle pair are pre-war issues, it might be preferable to use a post-war issue of The Hotspur in order to establish a balance. The kind of cover I have in mind to enhance that balance is on issue 557 (Nov. 30 1946) because the victim is sort of looking inwards towards the other four covers. See below. If you like it, PM me with your address, and I will send you a full-size colour scan.

Thanks, I think the image you have provided will be the right size.
