J M Jorge

Post by stevezodiac »

I was looking at the latest Commandos in Smith's today and saw that one was drawn by J M Jorge, probably my favourite Commando artist. I immediately looked for a leather flying helmet with success. Would I be right in saying Jorge has only ever drawn war in the air stories and that every story of his has to feature a leather flying helmet? He's had one in every one that I've checked so far.

No argument from me about the incredible talent of Jose Maria Jorge. However, he did do a few that weren't air orientated, not to mention a few without the leather helmet such as Bronco Ace (air story set in Vietnam), The Invisible Warrior (naval story set in the Pacific) and Serpent Island (also a naval story set in the Pacific).

It was a real wrench to read of his passing away back in 2010.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

I was unaware he'd died. Sad news.
