'Supermags' titles - for Boys, for Girls, Comics...

Post by BristleKRS »

Hello there...

Whilst poring over a folder of old clippings and notes I came across a chronology of DC Thomson titles I had put together many, many moons ago - and was reminded of what I think were an early attempt to put out reprint material from the Dundonian vaults in a premium format, namely three separate 'Supermags' - one for boys, one for girls, and one of unisex funnies.

My notes record all of them with a cover date of 17 October 1986.

Can anyone shed any further light on these? Were they all one-offs? What did they feature?

I have the faintest of memories that the 'Boys' edition may have featured Bearpaw Jay...

Search function can be useful sometimes - it seems this was discussed back in 2008.

And it was mentioned again a couple of weeks ago.

I recently snagged me a copy of the Super Mags For Boys (a Bearpaw Jay story + football yarn ‘The Feud’) - very happy!

I almost managed to get the Super Mags Comic (Dennis & Gnasher + Nick Kelly) too, but some rogue snaffled it in the closing minutes from under my nose, arrgh!

Oh well, there'll be others... And one day maybe even a For Girls as well :)

Got boys, girls but not the comic one. Will look later and see what the stories are in the girls one.

Fixed. Was caused by a change of webhost, the word forum is now lower case instead of mixed case on all forum links.
