The cartoon museum in London is now showing the 30th anniversary exhibition of the Viz.

Its excellent. Taking you through every character (nearly) and more or less every artist in the Comics 30 year history. Most of the artists have something up on the wall. Whats more there are some of the 'Genuine Viz Tat' on display as well which is a nice edition.

Its well worth a view, whats more as well as signed stuff (the cartoon museum always takes the opportunity to get the artists to sign a tonne of stuff!) the museum is holding a 'roundtable' on 6 January from 6.30 – 7.30 (Afternoon I think, either than or I will have to pop down before my paperound)

Anyone seen it yet? What did you think?

Unfortunately I couldn't make it down to the launch do on Tuesday night but I hear it went very well. No pages of mine in the exhibition as I didn't get around to sending the museum any, but I'll be selling some Suicidal Syd / Felix / Sharks pages on eBay and on my own site in the future.

Don't worry Lew there is some of your stuff up. The Pathetic Sharks cover you did for the summer special is up on display! Its credited as Lew Stringer and Chris Donald though. A few of the displays are credited a bit wrong or not clearly enough, but not many of them. They had to take down a Mr Logic tag which was attributed to Simon Donald but it was one of Paul Palmers.

Hope you get to see it, its worth a trip just to see Simon Thorpes original '150 characters' and maps of the 'shittish isles' and 'errrrr europe' I noticed loads that Ihad forgotten about or never seen before, in belgium theres a tin tin giving a nazi salute! had me chuckling!

Chris Donald? He's the guy who founded Viz. Did he create the sharks? No mention on Wikipedia, just a listing of the writers and artists for a 1991 special.

He did create the Sharks as well as the other characters Lew does (well maybe joint created with the others). This is what I was on about when I said the tags were wrong, they credited both Chris and Lew but failed to say that Lew was the artist and Chris was just the creator of the characters, which may confuse people at the exhibit, are you heading down Digifiend?

Thanks Steve. I wondered where that page had gone! Obviously I never had it back. I'm glad it's in the exhibition though.

Actually, Chris does deserve his co-credit on that cover because he supplied me with a rough that I based the finished art on, even down to the logo. The interior pages I did were all "mi own werk" though.

I was at the launch, me. It was ace (Sorry to have missed you Lew). The exhibition is great, if anybody gets the chance to go, do. The best Viz exhibition yet, I think, real artwork fans. Great space too, and lovely people working there.

I only just found out that Todays Guardian featured some exclusive Viz comics and an article on the anniversary.

Anyway the comics are good fun, we got a BIFFA BACON, MRS BRADY and a GILBERT RATCHET (The best in my opinion) sorry to post the information late, only just found out about it myself, I'm not middle class enough to read the Guardian but my cous cous eating, flower pressing, la-di-da, bag for life, waitrose shopping middle class matey only just told me about it. The comics are on the website although the quality is a bit low, worth a read though! enjoy!

Mrs Bumfart in Gilbert Ratchet had me laughing my head off. Theres 5 points for anyone who can tell me whats missing in the Bacons strip? Something the Guardian may have edited out.

I don't know, I was laughing too hard at Biffa's floo-ahs to notice anything missing! I did enjoy the dig at the Daily Mail. Quite restrained for the Guardian!

I thought that the Guardian had edited out the Bacons sweary tattoos but I was wrong the Viz guys were not censored in any way, which seems to make a change, nice when something crosses over without being filtered to death!

The pointless five points will roll over until I can think of an equally boring bit of Viz trivia that no-one really cares about!
