The Bill axed

After 27 years, The Bill will soon be no more. Of course, that doesn't matter for Freeview viewers in Scotland, who lost the show months ago (Sky viewers can watch ITV1 London). Was anyone a fan of the police drama, and what do people think of it's demise?

I was a big fan of The Bill, when it was a police drama. After it became a soap opera, less so. To be honest, given the way the producers have treated long running cast members like Graham Cole and Jeff Stewart (the latter attempted suicide after being unceremoniously fired after 24 years), I can't say I care much anymore.

Funnily enough I can remember an issue of Fleetway's Eagle in which the editor (probably Barrie Tomlinson) went out of his way to praise The Bill's scriptwriters, suggesting that prospective comics writers would do well to emulate them.
