the Top 100 humour characters...UPDATED sorry;0)
no particular order..
1) Sweeny Toddler has to be on the list and my favourite character...
2) Bumpkin Billionaires was such a rich strip and the stories were very creative...
3) Joker there were loads of different characters that came in to this strip always top of the charts in whizzer and chips..
why not name some for the list..

One I really like is Kid's Court. The one where a court is run by kids who dispense justice to grown ups.
More of my personal favourites:
The Kids of Stalag 41
Schoolditz (School Fun)
Extra Terrestrial Teacher (School Fun)

Are we sticking with the funnies or are we including the adventure papers as well?
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

I've read that Buster was originally an adventure comic, with funnies as light relief. Eventually it became an all-funnies comic. So maybe yes - include the adventure titles.colcool007 wrote:Are we sticking with the funnies or are we including the adventure papers as well?

Re: the Top 100 Fleetway characters...
Are we ranking entries in the list or putting them in alphabetical order?
Re: the Top 100 Fleetway characters...
I can't help feeling that the current header might be a bit too wide-ranging, potentially mixing chalk with gorgonzola (Tiger Tim vs Buster vs Captain Hurricane vs Lucky's Living Doll vs Judge Dredd?) - especially if it includes all the publishers that eventually came under the IPC banner. Maybe it would be better to limit it to humorous characters? That would then leave the option of future polls like IPC Funnies vs DC Thomson Funnies, Top Ten Real-Life Animal Strips, !00 Best Boys Serials, Best Nursery Characters, Best Adventure Heroes, Best Sporting Heroes, Best War Strips, Best British Super Heroes, Best SF Strips, Best TV Adaptations, etc....

Buster had a balance of humour and adventure under Fleetway. After IPC took over, and various comics merged into it, Buster edged closer and closer to its final form as an all-humour title.Tammyfan wrote:I've read that Buster was originally an adventure comic, with funnies as light relief. As it must. It simply means that all the characters that members recommend will have to fight that much harder to justify their place in the Top 100. Peter's thread is a good one, but we must learn from the mistake we made at the very beginning of the creation of Tammyfan's Top 100 Girls' Serials, which was not making clear the terms we needed to use to judge them individually, and to compare one with another, and let's remember that every single one of the serials in all the girls' papers, whoever published them, was a candidate.philcom55 wrote:especially if it includes all the publishers that eventually came under the IPC banner.
