Playtime was a nursery comic published by the Amalgamated Press, starting on 29th March 1919. It ran until 12th October 1929, after which it was merged into Bo-Peep and Little Boy Blue.
I was lucky enough to pick up issue #1 and much to my surprise it came with a double sided flyer for issue one & the free gift! I've tried to find more & managed to find two more issues, issue #43 (17th Jan 1920) and #187 (21st Oct 1922) but all other supplies have dried up.
The comic is 24 pages long with text stories as well as colour comics internally. Thought yous would like to see this comic, thought the flyer which has almost an exact match for the cover of issue one & the free gift would be pretty rare.. Even the British Library don't have these, according to their web site. (although I could be wrong, I often am. lol)

What a great find. Where did you pick that up from and what prompted you to buy it?

Interesting! I don't think I've ever seen that before.

Who is the cover artist? I can't quite read the signature.

I got these a few years ago on ebay. I had always been a Beano & Dandy collector thinking that everything before this where storey papers & I found comics like Illustrated Chips, Jester, Joker, etc etc. So one seller had a pile of really old rare looking stuff so I decided just to buy pre-war comics and what caught my eye. I've got Chick's Own #1 and early issues of Tiny Tots, Rainbow etc. As well as the Playtime comic.
The cover artist is Harry Rowntree, think he was best known as a children's book artist.
I also picked up orginal art by Roy Wilson. then I ran out of money.
of course once I got paid again the seller was nowhere to be seen. god bless ebay & late night drunken comic searching.
