No, they'll scan from the Smash! comics. Much of the old Odhams artwork was destroyed years ago.

I'd imagine Steve is scanning from the original run in Swift which had much better printing than Smash! (where the strip was renamed 'The Ghost Patrol' anyway).

For Phantom Patrol yes, but we were talking about Queen of the Seas.

Well, that's my copy of Phantom Patrol ordered. Looking forward to reading the whole run rather than selected issues as they appeared in the early 2000AD annuals.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

I received both books last week and finished reading them yesterday, so I thought I should write a couple of things about them.

First of all the printing and layout was professional. No difference from any Titan edition for example. The paper quality was similar too. Thick white paper like the one used in "The Steel Claw" and "The Spider" collections. My only "complaint" (if you can call it like that) is that they are a little smaller compared to the Titan books I mentioned, and I felt that the extra height would be more visually appealing (on the Cursitor Doom episodes especially).

Apart from that, I was very pleased with the titles' selection. I also had read the 2000AD annuals that contained pieces of the old Phantom Patrol sequences (in yellowish average quality paper), but never the beginning or the end (?) of the story. I 'm glad I had the chance to read it all in one piece.

I especially enjoyed Cursitor Doom. The only knowledge I had from the character was the part that was reprinted in the "Albion: Origins" collection. It kind of reminded me the Adam Eterno stories I was reading when I was young. Same dark atmosphere, the constant presence of the supernatural, except that Eterno wasn 't drawn as a possible blood-crazed psychopath the way Cursitor Doom was (which I totally enjoyed and thought that adds to the character). Old school comic I guess, for an old school comic fan like me.

I 've no idea who or what Johnny Future is, but I 'll probably get those two books in October...

I got both books last week and are brilliant. Will definitely keep buying as long as new books are printed.
