What I should have done,

I was singing it

It's a god-awful small affair
To the girl with the mousy hair
But her mummy is yelling "No"
And her daddy has told her to go
But her friend is nowhere to be seen
Now she walks through her sunken dream
To the seat with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen
But the film is a saddening bore
For she's lived it ten times or more
She could spit in the eyes of fools
As they ask her to focus on
Sailors fighting in the dance hall
Oh man! Look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the Lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?

David Bowie was great and still is.

OK, OK. So I was born too soon, or too long ago, depending on which way you want to look at it. I have to say, with some sorrow, that I was never able to relate to Bowie's music on any level, and the only thing that Marc Bolan and I have in common is that we both sang in Hyde Park. I was there in 1966, fully two years before his free concert but, to be fair, I was only busking at the time. :D

P.S. If you tell me who your football team is, I'll try to devote a whole post to slagging it off, always assuming, of course, that it is not the same as mine!

I'm about to give colin a rank of his own. Those of you who have some idea of my twisted sense of humour will be able to guess why...

Colin is a Brit living in Australia. Mr Harris is of course the exact opposite, but things always seem to be a bit back to front/upside down over there, so that famous cartoonist would be the perfect match.

Hey Pheonix - you're all a talented lot on this site, artists, collectors, living knowledge banks and now buskers I'm really impressed - You either get Bowie of not I suppose for me, as a kid he was just so different at the time from all the other artists out there (well with Bolan and I didn't get into New York Dolls, Lou Reed, Iggy etc till after Bowie) - I also relate Bowie to comics for some reason, probably his erly stuff being very SF orientated etc. My footy team, ready for this now??? strangely for a small club its the same as another poster on here (that I haven't heard from in a while) it's............... Hamilton Academical FC, let the abuse begin!!
