Strip Magazine sub-forum?

Are we going to have a Strip Magazine sub-forum in the Comic Titles section? I haven't received my copy of number 1 yet (got the email from FP today, saying it's on its way), but I'm sure forum members will want to comment on their copies.

What a great idea. I can't imagine why no-one else thought of it! After removing my tongue from being placed in my cheek, I have created the forum for Strip. Good call Niblet.

Look, I'm all for entrepreneurial activity, and I wish Strip comic every success, but a sub-forum already? Come off it. I didn't bother replying to Niblet's suggestion because I was convinced that, like me, everybody else would think it was a daft idea. Issue 1 hasn't been out a week yet, many enthusiasts on this site still haven't got their copy, it isn't on general release, and its long-term survival as a glossy cannot be assured. It's far too premature. There are two threads here already that can be used for comments, as they are being now. Isn't that enough for the time being?

Personally, I am hoping it goes very well. Which is why I am happy to create a new forum. Plus it is fairly easy to sublimate the threads back into the main forum if it does not go well. And as Oddball would say...
Stop wid 'em negative waves Moriaty. Woof! Woof!

colcool007: The Strip subforum appears in the index at the start of the Comic Titles forum, but it hasn't appeared in the small print beneath the 'Comic Titles' link on the main page.

We have zombie subforums for the DFC and Classics from the Comics, as well as redundant/poorly patronised ones for 2000AD and Viz. Personally, I think a good tidy-up is in order, so that the forum has more relevance to both the modern industry and the type of things which, in practice, tend to get discussed.

How about a 'Fleetway/IPC comics' subforum?

How about... Toxic? :settee:

I'm gonna suggest sub-forums for different genres of british comic which already sort of exists with Girl's comics sub-forum.

I've fixed the problem with Strip Magazine. There's a wee switch to show it (or not) as a subforum of Comic Titles.

We have been thinking about the status of the subforums, and the things which don't quite make sense. I'm about to fix that, but for now, Viz and 2000AD will retain their own forums.

Just spotted two new forums, for retired DCT titles and retired IPC, Fleetway and Odhams titles. Good move. :)

Well, I've seen it all now! A sub-forum for a comic that hasn't even been born, doesn't exist, may never exist! The last I heard, it was slated to appear in January 2012, that's two whole months away. I've no argument with Swirly's suggestion about a tidying up of the sub-forums but seeing that the process was so easy, it took place while I was having my tea for heaven's sake, why could the sub-forum for the potential addition to the roster not have waited for some appropriate teatime in January? Some actions are just too precipitate in my opinion, decided on a whim, or through hearing voices like Joan of Arc.

But it's out in comic shops now as a number of us have written - so how hasn't it been born/doesn't it exist?

Incidentally, how come all the DCT retired titles posts are there but the IPC/Odhams retired titles sub-heading has 0 posts? Just not been transferred yet?

If you are referring to Strip magazine, Raven, you will presumably have noticed that I am one of the members who has written about buying a copy. I was actually referring to The Phoenix, which, as far as I am aware, has not yet been published, but now has a subforum nonetheless. If it has, I apologise for assuming that it hadn't, although I am amazed that I cannot recall reading anything on this forum about its content.

Aha - I see. Reading down the thread, following your comments "Look, I'm all for entrepreneurial activity, and I wish Strip comic every success, but a sub-forum already? Come off it," etc. I assumed you were continuing about that title getting one despite your protestations, as you didn't mention 'The Phoenix' by name.

Oh well, The Phoenix has sent out six newsletters about stories and stuff now, so people may want to discuss them.

With the benefit of hindsight perhaps I should have mentioned The Phoenix, but at the time I wrote the post partially quoted above, Strip magazine already had a subforum. The one for The Phoenix on the other hand, was a complete surprise.

The forum description reveals the retired DCT forum is just the Classics from the Comics forum, renamed. No posts have actually been transferred yet (unlike the two topics moved into the Strip forum at its point of launch).

After the archives of 'retired IPC' and 'retired DCT' have been populated, the 'General comics discussion' topics list will probably have halved in size!
