Is this listing for a Beano no 1 correct
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321779299620? ... EBIDX%3AIT
I thought it had 28 pages and no staple holes

Correct. It's an official 24 page facsimile (the missing 4 pages are because apart from being an easy way to tell a replica from an original, it's apparently technically inconvenient to add the extra sheet!) and the original was of course glued rather than stapled.

Paper quality looks superior to the original too - the original wouldn't have that shine at the top and would probably be yellowed (as is evident even on 1980s issues - 1988 was when they started using different paper instead of newsprint).

The listing has now been removed. I doubt it would have fooled anyone though. So obviously a facsimile.
