Just picked this up on Down the Tubes - I thought the original plan was for a film...

Bananaman The Musical, written by the award-winning writer and composer of Wolfboy, The Famous Five, Scary Musical and Monte Cristo Leon Parris, is directed by Mark Perry (producer, director, actor and founder of Sightline Entertainment) and is part parody, part slapstick comedy musical for the whole family.

Bananaman, the Man-of-Peel, is a unique member of the superhero ranks. This handsome hero may have a jaw line you can see from space and sport the snazziest of tight lycra outfits, but he’s also got “the muscles of 20 men and the brain of 20 mussels.”

(Which isn’t much).

With a useless hero and some equally clueless villains, Bananaman’s winkingly clever, delightfully silly humour has been sealed into the memories of those who saw him first, and will now spark the imagination of a new bunch of Bananafans.

It won’t be long before we all peel the power of Bananaman!

Seems unrelated to those film plans. Which look like they've been abandoned. The website, http://www.bananamanmovie.com/, is dead.

You're not very observant are you? I shared the link last week on Facebook and that included the song!

I was at the Southwark Playhouse on Tuesday to see Josie Lawrence in Mother Courage and Her Children (which was brilliant). It's a tiny theatre and the performance is only a couple of feet away from the audience so you feel part of the play in a way, which adds to the experience. It'll be interesting to see how Bananaman works in such an intimate environment but I'm sure it'll be good fun. Will try and get along there in January.

I'm off to see this on Saturday night - if anyone wants me to pick them up a programme as a souvenir let me know.

(I'm assuming of course that there'll be a programme; I don't know how much it'll cost but I'm assuming that the total costs (including postage to you, in the UK, would be about £5-£6)

I want to see this more than I want to see the new Star Wars movie and I am seeing that tomorrow. I also did a wee article promoting it too.

The price of the programme for Mother Courage was £3 so if Bananaman is the same, your estimate of £5 inc p&p sounds about right.

You were a long way from home, Lew and just down the road from me. Did you stay overnight in London?

PS Am I the only forum member never to have seen a Star Wars film? From what I've seen in clips it looks like they are for toddlers. Blade of the Immortal, out now, is more to my liking.
