The beginning of the end for 'The Dandy' ?

Post by Kashgar »

This weeks edition of the Dandy contains a subscription ad that goes someway to confirm that its publishing schedule is about to change. Instead of the usual six month or yearly subscriptions on offer as has been the norm this weeks issue is offering a ?10 subscription for a mere six issues plus the new Dandy Summer Special.

Not necessarily. If you look at the DC Thomson Dandy subscription web page, it's a special offer for 6 weekly issues (plus special):

They're also still offering a 12 month sub for ?67.60 or 6 month subs for ?33.80. All of which state it's a weekly comic.

If the frequency is changing, no one appears to have told the subscription dept about it.

Worth bearing this in mind (coming from a non-Dandy fan).

When Buster went fortnightly it still had another 5 years left to live, and from what I've read here there was a greater quantity of reprinted material in that.

As Lew said, it's not necessarily a death knell, just a minor heart problem.

Yes, I recently heard that it goes fortnightly from the end of this month / start of August.

Well, there is a war on.... ;-)
