Question about the Dandy's revamp in 2004.

Post by SID »

Was there a break in the Dandy's schedule before the 2004 revamp out?

I read/heard it somewhere that it did.

Is this correct?

No break whatsoever, and Nigel (NP) did a brilliant transition with the logo of the "old" Dandy being dismantled by a workman bit by bit over two of three weeks before the revamp.

I stopped buying the Dandy a few months before the revamp, but bought a few for the weeks after (starting with the first "gross tongue" issue).

Does anyone have a scan of this that Lew mentions? I'd love to see it.

Wow! That's really clever, and beautifully drawn too :)

By the way, Nigel's not in this issue of Dandy Xtreme, if it helps. You might not want to spend your money to find out your missing the treat ;)

Thanks, Peter.

Reminds me a bit of what 2000AD did during a logo style change.

Way back in the 500s, when it first changed, Tharg had the staff throw the old logo in the fire, carrying the (wrapped) new logo. The next week, Dredd was telling a perp "The new logo stays!"

When Rebellion changed it back to the current logo (a variant on the above logo), Dredd told a similar perp "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Well just bought a lot of 2004 Dandys from e-Bay which leads up and includes the revamp.

I must say I did like the 'classic' Dandy classic before its face-lift. :)
