JAK WEDGEES DENNIS
in this week's Jak, he gives Dennis (or a Dennis Lookalike) a wedgee. Anyone got any opinions on the Dandy's latest cover star humiliating the Beano's most famous character?

Crossovers are good, like that time when Desperate Dan went to see his "pal" Dennis in 1989, but this time, why make Dennis look like a monkey?

I don't think Jak really needs to humiliate Dennis. He does that himself turning up for school in his dad's tackety boots and a pair of shorts. The Menace obviously has a sublimated desire to be bullied himself to assuage his guilt after fifty-odd years of being the perpetrator. Chortle!

A cheap trick for The Dandy to try and sell more copies. The Beano doesn't have to resort to such things!

What a load of tosh. I can't even begin to imagine how you'd think something like that would sell more copies. There's some very odd ideas around here.

Well, you explain why The Dandy would bother to involve the most popular comic character in Britain in their story?

For fun? The Dandy and the Beano office doors are less than ten metres apart, and there has always been a friendly rivalry between them. If they'd put Dennis on the cover and made him King of the Dandy then you might have had a case. But he's being humiliated by a Dandy character. That's just poking fun at your rivals. Naff all to do with selling copies.

There is one point about Dennis being made a fool of in the Dandy, not many people will see it.
