From the bidding history it looks like the winning bidder had bid a high price expecting no one to come close to it, and one other person posted numerous bids, so the price kept climbing. Hmmm.
Moral of the story: Don't place an unrealistically high bid thinking no one will call your bluff.

Nice idea
I've heard that happens, (shill bidding), although we can't say for sure that's the case here of course.

We'll know if it gets re-listed that something wasn't quite right. It surprises me that people still do this as many of us look at bidding histories when buying items of a certain value. Hey Ho, it takes all sorts.

It sold last week for just £6.27 - people go crazy about phil-comics, as though his VG is NM and signed by all the creators, who will also make you a cappuccino at a time of your choosing! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Beano-Comic- ... Sw-o9anDd8
Well that beano is just very odd! If that sale is completed I’d be utterly shocked.
The Star Lord annual does smack of shill bidding, but the winner did also lay multiple bids so if I had to guess it looks more like auction fever than actual shilling.
The Beano though... no idea.
Phil does seem to have hit upon some magic formula for selling pretty common items for outlandish prices - I know he promotes them on twitter etc, but still you’d think people would do just a tiny bit of research to see if they’re getting a good deal... I do think some of his customers get left ‘holding the baby’ a bit when they try and resell though. Not his fault, but yea... check out prices before bidding!
Looks like Phil has pulled all the bids anyways so they must have been mistakes. He actually does have the Clapton cover listed as well, which is around £80 atm.
looks like that Beano has been rebooted back to 99p. The Eric Clapton one should go for £150-£200 I would guess, which is to be expected. Phil gets good prices, but I think that's because he's very reliable- fair grades and always a good service in my experience.

Phil has just posted that the French bidder made a boo-boo and missed their decimal point! The bidder emailed in an apology and a request to accept their proper bid of £5.00 not £500!
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!
They've had those listed many many times at that price. Expect to see the same seller list the first year of Tammy at an equally high price.... (They bought them from me last week).
