Read my first Commando
I'm trying to open my eyes to other comics and it has been nice seeing what I have missed...
I read Circus at war no.2303
interesting story and some nice twists and turns...kept thinking of shipwreck circus from Beano..
I was also given by a friend
Revenge Squad 2350
HM U-Boat 999 2338
Flying Wild 2331
Demon Driver 2345
If I like these I may buy the ones that come out now or is it best to go for the
best of large books..?

I havent seen the artist on Taxi! drawing any other ones, though i hope he stays because he's pretty good. They tried out another artist a while ago who's style was pretty messy... it ruined the otherwise gripping tale "Deep Secret" for me.
I loved Demon Driver, but then i like classic cars XD. I got into an arguement with a re-enacter who plays a Nazi recently about the off-roading abilities of a Kubelwagen compared to a Mercedes XD.
"Sense of Justice" is part of a series of three, the other two are also well worth getting, though the re-cap is good enough that the previous issues are not essential to understand what's happening (unlike a pair recently set in the Napoleonic wars which is the only time i've known Commando to do a real "cliffhanger" ending)
The same artist on Sense of Justice also sporadically does ones about some journalists in the 1890's, he seems to specialise in Victorian settings (then again if i remember rightly he also did the bang up to date "Shuttle Down!"
Also see if you can track down "Codename Nightmare", it's an unusual modern-set story which starts off very mysteriously... reminded me of The Prisoner a bit

I'm very new to Commando But I'm now a fan...
Loved the drawing on Taxi
Demon Driver was a great yarn...
Will be keeping an eye out for old ones and the new ones...
With reprint books being successful Battle...War...Commando...
lets hope other comic libraries will come out....hey I wouldn't mind reading some football ones...adventure...spies...etc..
What I like about these comic books is that it is normally a complete story..

There used to be a Football picture library that i think ran up to 2003 (though must have been extremly patchy distribution in the later years, i can't recall ever seeing it anywhere). There also used to be detective ones (several of them set in space with future detectives), famous stories like Buffalo Bill in comic form, Western ones, Sci-fi ones (Starblazer!) and for the girls Romantic ones (i think i saw a romance one amongst the Commando when on holiday in about 1997) and ones about Horses... though for most of them they where about war. Seen this website? http://www.britishcomics.20m.com/pocket.htm loads of info. Ebay turns up collections of them often too...
Oh yeah, and the big books are very recommended. One of the artists who used to do flying stories in old issues has an almost photographic style...

There has got to be a comic strip story in that sentence alone

Enjoyed the new adventures.....Sniper's Kingdom (the inventor going for a ride was fun) and Automatic pilot...the kite idea was chilling to make you look up and get shot..
Got the 2 reprints Close Combat which showed 2 angry men on different sides finding respect for each other...which makes you think.....
Just the Ninja one to read...
Great to see adventure stories for all ages still around...keep up the good work...glad I've discovered these....those big books have won you a new fan.
I'll get the big books when the price goes down....
In Waterstone there is a 3 for 2 offer which is tempting...

The shop formerly known as "Booksale" but it's now something else has alternate versions of the first three big books for ?6.99. Quality seems pretty much the same. They have alternate titles, the title is the "subtitle" of the 'normal' version. They also have alternate cover art, which on the ANZACS at war one i think is better XD

I think there is a booksale or bookends in Kingston so I'll look out for it...also in Worthing!

this is interesting and confirms what I said the big books are making people aware of Commando...
I get mine at WHSmiths which is in a small plastic display all of its own...
Though I don't buy it I noticed the Beano and Dandy comic library have one each rather than 2 out each time...and the logos now the new ones the comics have...

The Dandy and Beano Comic Libraries adopted this publishing schedule, and the new logos, last month. Now instead of releasing two consecutive issues of either library on alternate fortnights every month you get one of each library. It all comes to the same as it ever did every month in publishing terms though.
