Association of Comics Enthusiasts' Newsletter

Post by Asger »

Anyone got copies of ACEN fra July 1981 to Jan/Feb 1982? I'm looking for a supposed article or -series about the classic adventurestrip 'Rob the Rover' from Puck 1920-40. I would very much like scans of that.

I subscribed to the ACE newsletter from March 81 to the Jan/Feb 82 issue.

During that time, material on Rob the Rover appeared in the newsletters dated March 81, which contained 2 pages of RTR reprints and a related article about Walter Booth, and July 81 which contained a 2-page article entitled Willy In Denmark: Rob The Rover Etc In England, by Verner E. Anderson.

I'd be happy to send you scans - I'll pm you.

Edit - just noticed another article in the Jan/Feb 82 issue.

When Denis Gifford stopped producing his A.C.E. newsletters, Richard, he was persuaded by Bryon Whitworth to continue to provide them for The Comic Journal/The Illustrated Comic Journal. They were a mixture of old and new material, and appeared from the A5-size issue 24 (Autumn 1992) to the A4-size issue 39 (Spring/Summer 2002). I have no idea whether any of these are, or ever have been, made available on the secondhand market, but it might be worth your while saving a search for them on eBay.
