Some of you may know I have been writing my KAZOOP!! blog for a few years now. I am starting this thread to ‘advertise’ some of the new posts which I think might interest a wider audience beyond my regular followers, and sometimes ask for your input. Recently I’ve been looking at Badtime Bedtime Books from Monster Fun Comic. I am now trying to establish who illustrated three of the books in 1975. You can see them here: http://kazoop.blogspot.com/2014/09/who-do-you-think-drew-these-badtime.html Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

My guess would be - surprise surprise - Mike Brown. If you look at the general comics discussion under the topic "A Green, Green Monster...!" you will see an example of Mike's work on one of those mini books from a Krazy annual. Its on page 4 of the general comics discussion.

That's excellent Irmantas. Over the years I've heard conflicting accounts by IPC staff on whether Ken wrote his own Faceache strips or not but you've nailed it. As for IPC regarding Ken's work as 'dark' I think their humour comics could have benefited with a bit of an edge to the humour at times. (I tried posting a similar comment on your blog but it looks like it didn't work.)

A review of the first Monster Fun Annual (1977) is now up on my blog. I have made an extra effort and nearly every name of the strip mentioned in the post is in fact an active link which leads to an older article on Kazoop!! covering the particular strip. You can read the post here: http://kazoop.blogspot.com/2014/12/monster-fun-comic-annual-1977k.html

A review of the last Monster Fun Annual (1985) is now up on my blog. The post is the last in the series in which I covered the developments in the life of Monster Fun Comic, provided an account of each strip that appeared during its relatively short run, and reviewed all MFC Holiday Specials and Annuals. MONSTER FUN COMIC is the third IPC humour comic after COR!! and SHIVER AND SHAKE covered in detail on Kazoop!! You can visit it here: http://kazoop.blogspot.com

In my last blogpost I reveal the truth about the Frankie’s Monster Award – a figure allegedly hand-made by Ken Reid himself, which fetched quite a bit of money when it was put on auction under an incorrect description a few years ago. The link to my blogpost is provided below.

My most recent post is about the inspiration behind the main characters of Ken Reid’s Queen of the Seas. You can read it here: http://kazoop.blogspot.com/2015/07/daft-mariners-of-canals-and-high-seas.html

In my last two posts I compare the original episodes of Ken Reid’s Jonah in the Beano with reprints in Buddy 20+ years later, and in the most recent post I have also included a few panels of Ken’s original Jonah artwork. One doesn’t get to see Ken’s original DC Thomson artwork very often, and you can find some in the blogpost here: http://kazoop.blogspot.com/2015/08/aghhh-its-im-jonah-originals-vs.html
