It's just been announced that Titan Comics are releasing a Hookjaw miniseries. Written by Si Spurrier, the first issue is due in December. More details at http://www.multiversitycomics.com/news/ ... ier-boyle/

And Conor Boyle's art is wonderful.

Oh dear. This will be heretical to many of you. I never liked Hookjaw, in fact I found the idea derivative and nasty. In fact I was not that keen on much that was in Action. So it's not for me.

I thought it was tasteless but there was a vitality in there I quite liked.

Given that I released a Collected Edition a few years ago, I loved it! Not sure about Si Spurrier though. Depends how much he plays it for laughs. Hopefully not as he can be a little too knowlingly clever.

Always liked Hookjaw, so this is welcome news. First Johnny Red, then Hookjaw...who will be next, I wonder?

There are so many everlasting images from Hookjaw that I can recall as a young boy: The final episode of the oil rig series where Red McNally's limbs are flying everywhere when the great white finally gets him. That was like: "Wow, never seen anything like that before." It was gratuitous and yet, the f**king villain deserved it. Another is when Hookjaw dives through the window of an airplane to devour the head of the pilot in full colour... suddenly, I realized, this comic was stunningly different to what I was used to reading. The third is the death of Rick Mason, the supposed hero of the series who was HookJaw's nemesis. I'll always remember the shock with not only me but also my parents. They just couldn't believe Rick had been eaten up just like that after so many episodes... it was a case of... wtf! This is not supposed to happen in comics. Still can't get that collective reaction out of my head... Hookjaw turned comics upside down and left the reader shaken and wondering what next.

Hook Jaw No.1 came out this week by the way. I trust everyone here bought a copy? (Mine's on order, on its way through the post.)
