So sad to hear that Mike Noble, one of the very best and most loved of all British comic artists, has just passed away.

I started collecting comics in 1965 with TV Century 21 and, even as a nine year old, I recognised his unique style. Images of his Fireball XL5 stories have stayed in my memory since. The snowmen surrounding Fireball, Steve Zodiac hanging from a ceiling sprinkler about to drop into the beam of a deadly laser. The giant animals, the black space ships etc. It's telling that, when I got rid of my Look-In comics, I kept his Timeslip strips out of them. One of the greats.

Sad to hear that too. Drew some fantastic stuff.
I was talking to a dealer at Manchester's Comic Fair on Saturday who met Noble once and said what a nice guy he was.
2018 been a bad year for deaths of so many comic greats - John Armstrong, Steve Ditko, Stan Lee just to name a very few.

Mike would be pleased to hear you noticed this incident. He said it was based on an escape attempt he read about that someone behind the Iron Curtain tried. I'm currently scanning my Wide World magazines with Mike Noble art in and will let you know when it's done. RIP Mike

I shouldn't have rushed my response...I can't believe it "Steve" but I did exactly the same thing. Tore out Timeslip by Mike Noble (and also some Bolton "Bionic Woman") before adding the Look-Ins to the large bonfire of UK comics - who knw they'd be worth anything back in 1979...and I was getting married so needed to clear out. The buyer who took my collection of US comics didn't want them!. I've still got the Timeslip pages! Now THAT would be a reprint book I would not hesitate to buy!

I looked at how many Wide World magazines I had with Mike's artwork and decided one year was enough to wrap my memories of Mike up. Hope you enjoy my post

I had probably the first 100 Look-Ins and only kept the first issue. Threw the rest away which was madness. I have some TV Comics with Mike's Range Rider/Lone Ranger.
