Keep a look out for what maybe the most heavy handed bit of foreshadowing in a comic ever, in the Christmas Dennis. :)

Re: Free 32 page Beano with Saturday's Daily Mirror.

Although Bananaman was filler. Caption on the first frame, otherwise nothing to do with the rest of the comic ;) From the style, I think the lot was written by Nigel Auchterlounie. Yes that's right. I wrote the scripts for Dennis, Minnie, Billy, Roger, Calamity, Bananaman, Nums, Bash street and tri...

Re: This week's issue - Take 4

This week marks the end of a series of connected Dennis stories... A long time ago Dennis met a ghost in the library that mentioned The duck pond island The clock tower Under Bash Street School -The duck pond was covered in the Dennis magazine -the clock tower was mentioned in the halloween "zombie"...

Re: Is Dennis a Bully?

Hi. I won't do the thing were I quote and answer. I'll just answer a couple of points that jumped out. These days he's not a bully, though perhaps he was in the past. Or was that his Dad or Grand dad? :) I'd like to think that he's a bit more 3 dimensional than he was. Characters in all mediums were...

Re: Beano - new direction?

I was reading this thread a few pages back and thought I might say a thing or two about Dennis's Dad.
But having read the last few pages I'm not so sure what this thread is about any more.

Re: This week's issue Take 2

Its nice to see a kind of Star Trek type head... Am I the green top numbskull? :) You're the star. The one saying "What on Earth are you Numskulls talking about!?!" The first draft of the story was wall to wall hip phrases. But it was incomprehensible. It need a "normal" person in the middle pointi...

I'm surprised you didn't quite get the Numskulls this week Peter. You're in it. Can you guess which character you are? :)

Well I know one page that's in it because I'm drawing it right now, but the rest? I've no idea and I suspect few of us freelancers do. But I think it'll please readers. Yes. Tee hee! :) I know what I drew, and I know what I wrote and a couple of other little things... I want to hint but I ...

Re: Free four page Beano with Time Out

And what if it had been sponsored by Carlsberg? Or Silk Cut? I think my original post was a bit OTT. The "adult content" is actually far tamer than what you'd see in The Simpsons at 6pm. And I do understand that it wouldn't exist were it not for MC. But it still makes me sad, perhaps due to my Bill...

Re: Free four page Beano with Time Out

I can't believe that joke about Gnasher and the corgi got into the final script - that joke seemed to suit a tasteless Viz knock-off rather than appear in a comic strip which only last year was about a kid who loved inventing and was incredibly soft. I can't stand it when product placement is in co...

Re: This week's issue Take 2

I like the idea that when Dennis' parents were reinvented, DCT actually went forward a generation so that Dennis became Dad with a new Dennis and Gnasher. Now if that was true, that would make Bea Dennis' aunt since she was born before the parental update. :) Didn't think of that! There's a danger ...
