Re: Judge Dredd Film
I will probably go and see it. Thanks to the small budget it visually does not look half as good as the 1995 version did. I feel they may have got the character and story a lot closer this time though.

Re: Guardian article: The Dandy Faces Closure
It's sad news when any business folds or radically alters itself beyond recognition. Like many I was always a Beano man (boy) but bought the Dandy when some spare pocket money could be found. I feel the business model for comics in general has to change radically for any of them to survive over the ...

Re: Spoofs of Fictional Heroes
Cadman the fighting coward from the Victor was probably more of a homage than parody but he was obviously based on George MacDonald Fraser's Flashman Character.

Re: 2000AD FIRST ISSUE GIFT
Mine survived three house moves and then one day was gone. I will always suspect that some one swiped it thinking it was just something to throw for the dog that would never be missed (it was not stored with my comics).

Re: Complete set of 2000AD for sale on e-Bay
I have no idea which issue it was but one of the earlier issues did have a distribution problem of some nature. I don't know if it was a strike or warehouse fire but much of the country missed out on one issue. Maybe that was issue 76.

Re: Action - 35 years old today
I was around 11 when Action and later Bullet came out. All the hoo har passed me by entirely. I thought the stories were pretty good in both but was not mad about the art. Bullet shot themselves in the foot with me when they failed to send me all my Bullet agent kit after I sent off for it (a letter...

Re: The Best of Krazy
Krazy was with out a doubt the best comic ever (IMHO ) it was so fresh and funny. I was shocked when it merged with Whizzer and Chips. I just don't get why it was not more popular.

Ebay is really your only viable place to flog them. I do advise including decent photos though. The market seems to have dropped off for this kind of item though.

Re: The storypaper returns! (or an updated penny dreadful)
Sadly I never noticed any publicity about this book or even seeing it. I can't help but think that the days of these kind of publications are over now. I do hope that some kind of business model can be achieved for books like these on-line though. Would it be worth putting a low price of 50p or even...

Re: Beano and Dandy digital editions launched
I love the concept of digital comics. The convenience of them is undeniable. For me though as one of life's collectors (hoarders) I like to own the physical copy of comics. For people like me the best approach from publishers both book and comic would be to let me have all formats with one purchase ...

Re: Thriller Comics Omnibus edition
I wonder if the ownership of the copyright of these books is so mixed up or even expired that would be fairly easy to get away with making small runs like these. With desk top publishing so available to the average man now I am surprised this kind of thing does not go on more often.

Re: What's your least favourite comic strip ever
I could find nothing of interest in Look-In at all back in my youth. It was the only comic that I ever reminded my Mom not to buy me if she was nipping to the shops for something. I can't think of a single strip that I felt was worth my time reading in it.

NO doubt they will repeat much of what has been in the case files volumes. I will have to check them out though so thanks for the tip.

Re: First Comic You Ever Read
The first comic I think I ever had was the Beano. The first comic that I bought that meant something to me was 2000AD. The first comic I read as a returning adult to comics was an issue of Green Lantern that featured Kyle Rayner as the new Lantern. It was read out of curiosity but some how around te...

Re: Vote for your next DC Thomson reprint book...for fun..
I'm undecided what I would most look forward to. Part of me would love to see Warlord as a 144 page hard cover reprint as that was the comic from my childhood that I have no issues or annuals of today. Having said that I think I would plump for a Valiant or Lion reprint.
