Re: Comics on TV
Just been watching Rentaghost on Britbox. In the final episode, Mr Claypole can be seen reading a comic called "Phantom Phunnies", which is clearly a copy of the Beano with a new title pasted over, Dennis the Menace is unmistakable. This episode was Broadcast on 6th November 1984. Rentaghost.jpg Re...

2019 Annuals
Cover art is on Amazon for all the annuals now, here they are with links. Some very nice artwork this year. I see also that they've gone back to the traditional one Broons/Oor Wullie annual (Wullie this year), after 2 years of releasing one of each. Beano https://www.amazon.co.uk/Beano-Annual-2019-A...

Re: Comics on TV
I think it's either 2099 or 2100, which would've been the current issue at the time of filming. You can just make out Dennis above the E of the logo in your second pic, the other issues around that time had a solid blue box above the logo. Out of those 2, i think it's 2099. In the first pic you can...

Re: Comics on TV
Here's one that you couldn't buy in the shops. Funo from an episode of The Army Game Series 4 Episode 10 (aired 27 Nov. 1959) - Officers and Gentlemen. I was watching it last night. It's obviously the Beano comic with the word 'Fun' placed over 'Bean'. Does anyone want to take a stab at what issue ...

Who is the current Broons/Oor Wullie artist?
I've been away with work for a while and not been able to read the Sunday Post. The last issues I read had the art done by Peter Davidson (who always signed his work with a P surrounded by a D). But this week was my first issue back and I notice the art has a different signature, a DJP. It doesn't l...

2017 Annuals
It's ridiculously early as ever, but Amazon has some cover art up for the 2017 annuals, all out 1st August. I thought the publication of both Broons and Oor Wullie books last year, was in celebration of the 80th anniversary, but it looks like they're publishing both again this year. Strangely there'...

Re: 2015 Annuals
There's also the Oor Wullie annual and the Broons/Oor Wullie covers up too. Interesting to see the "in full colour for the first time ever" description on the Broons/Oor Wullie (not strictly true, because they published some strips in colour in the 90's didn't they?) http://www.bookdepository.com/Oo...

Re: Bound issues
It's a pity a method couldn't be found of attaching the comics to non-harmful 'extensions' within bound comics volumes, that would enable the comics to be read fully and easily without cropping or making it difficult to see the centre page spreads. I use these magi-clips to put comics and magazines...

Re: Comics on TV
This is from "Rumpole of the Bailey", series 05 ep 05 "Rumpole and Portia", broadcast 21st December 1988. Can't get clear screenshots, but i think the boy passing through shot is reading a Beano. Looks a bit like a Dennis strip on the back page. http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz257/jakob1978/vlc...
