Quest of the grey Hawk

Has anyone discovered who drew or wrote the strip: Quest of the Grey Hawk
published in the British magazine BUTTERFLY from October 13th. 1934 to September 20eth.1935?
Some rumour says it was done by John L. Jukes, but he only drew humorstrips it seems.

Vincent S. Daniel

Does anyone have a photo of the artist Vincent S. Daniel who assisted Walter Booth on Rob the Rover back in the 20es or 30es? I need it for an article on the RtR-artist in our Danish publication of Willy paa eventyr, the Danish continuation of that strip.

Re: How Rob the Rover survived WWII

I have now recieved the first three 'Rob the Rover'-books in Portuguese, they are rather fine for a fan-puclication: 68 B/W landscape-pgs with color cover, square-bound but with tape, so I guess they won't stand for much handling. Sadly a few of the pages are rather grainy in texture on account of b...

As you see here, José Pires, the Portuguese fan-publisher of Rob the Rover is preparing an edition in English.

Re: How Rob the Rover survived WWII

Wonderful news about the worlds (and Britains) first adventure-strip:Rob the Rover is being reprinted in Portugal, yes in Portuguese; but the publisher has told my friend Björn in Sweden that if as much as 20 Scandinavians would order the books, he would consider publishing them in English too. I ga...

Re: How Rob the Rover survived WWII

This June we will finish our run of 3 'Willy på eventyr'-books, but we are planning to publish the entire run of 1110 pages by Tage Andersen and maybe the 330 pages by Harry Nielsen in a series of 6 hardcover books. We have contacted a Norwegian publisher about publishing it in Norway, and we are lo...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Yesterday I went to a large indoor flea-marked in Copenhagen Bella Center (where the European foreign ministers met too, incidentally), and apart from a dozen or so color-albums of French-Belgian comics and some scores of ordinary Danish comicbooks I also bought a handful of real gold: A 1944 book o...

Association of Comics Enthusiasts' Newsletter

Anyone got copies of ACEN fra July 1981 to Jan/Feb 1982? I'm looking for a supposed article or -series about the classic adventurestrip 'Rob the Rover' from Puck 1920-40. I would very much like scans of that.

Re: The Hobbit in Children's Digest magazine

...and I just discovered that C's D was an American magazine. The Hobbit was partly comic-serialised by Lester Abrams, who worked on the Rankin-Bass movie version too

Could you please post some pages from Princess, then? I've got Bermejo's ½LotR in Danish and of course Wenzel's Hobbit.

The Hobbit in Children's Digest magazine

Does anyone have copies of Children's Digest magazine with the partial adaptation of The Hobbit (from the 70ies?)? I would like to see scans of some or all the pages of this.

Re: Writing an article on British adventure comics

I hope you'll mention Rob the Rover, Britains and the worlds first adventure-comic, from Puck 1920-40.
