Re: Lockdown in comics

Here's my original post from 2019 giving details. Back in December I came across someone selling batches of comics at very reasonable prices and have been carrying bags of them away at regular intervals. Among them were a couple of hundred Shoots and Goals and a run of Striker. Here is a list of my ...

Re: Lockdown in comics

Have you considered antique fairs, I see there are quite a few in Leicestershire. I picked up hundreds of 50s British comics at Kempton Park antique fair about three years ago. Very cheaply too with runs of Lion, Tiger and TV Fun from issue 1 and also bundles of Knockout, Film Fun and Radio fun. A n...

Re: Looking back ----childhood comics

You could always frame this Hotspurs and sell them on eBay or put them on your own wall. I have framed comic covers on my bedroom wall. From the Denis Gifford book of Christmas covers. (The pages are perforated for removal and framing and I came across several copies for 50p each a few years ago).

Re: Looking back ----childhood comics

In 1965 my mate, Terry Smith (he was born five doors away back when we were born at home, he's still a friend now), knocked on my door and showed me TV Century 21. I bought it from issue 21 every week until it merged with Valiant. Meanwhile I had come across the Power comics but could only afford Po...

A Google images search gives nothing either. Is this a wind up?

Re: Kim comic

It doesn't exist on Grand Comics Database and I'd never heard of it.

Re: new member introduction and question re 'I-Spy' Annual.

I'd think if Comics UK included the I-Spy series it would also have to include the Ladybird books. Neither meets the comics criteria but are juvenile interest but is cutting it fine.

Re: new member introduction and question re 'I-Spy' Annual.

Would the I-Spy annuals have had any comic strip content? I have one I-Spy booklet (Astronomy) and don't think it has comic content. I'm aware some annuals are mostly text but they are usually TV series based and are fiction so qualify in the story paper category.

Re: Topper feature pages

I think comics UK members would be loath to sell very early copies of the Topper if they knew they were going to be cut up.

Re: Boys Adventure Comic blog

I've indexed it onto GCD just awaiting approval. I got some more information from Lew Stringer's blog. Is the back cover identical to the front? Also what was its original price? Perhaps someone could check the entry when it is approved and add any info they have.

Re: Boys Adventure Comic blog

If it's ok with you I'll use this information to index the Valiant book onto the Grand comics database. Are all the pages in black and white?
