Re: What comics did you buy today?

Daredevil was a silver age Marvel comic. I also had the Tales of Suspense with Iron Man's first appearance back in the sixties but I was into DC comics at the time and didn't hang onto it. Found a bundle of Busters today from 1974/75. About 25 issues. I'll put them on ebay as a bundle apart from an ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I have the first issue of Buster but have not put it on ebay as I always fear the buyer may claim they didn't receive it and eBay believes them and I have to refund them thus losing the comic and the payment. Most collectors are honest but with a high price comic I don't want to take the chance. Unt...

Re: Some interesting observations about collecting

Yes, a few years ago I got three black bin bags full of comics delivered by hand from an eBay seller. Must have been over 300 comics for about £100. 60s to 80s UK comics including Cor!! #1 which I had been after as my brother's mates took away some of my comics in the early 70s including Cor!! #1.

Re: Not just any old East London pie and mash shop

My local Manzes closes next year. I'll have to go to Goddards in nearby Greenwich for my fix. A privilege for the Southwark Borough newspaper to have a Lewisham Borough story on the cover.

Re: Talking Pictures TV

Trailers on Talking Pictures yesterday show that The Beverly Hillbillies and Bonanza are coming to the channel at the beginning of March, as is Stingray. I grew up in the sixties and watched them all first time round. Beverly Hillbillies very funny. Back then there was a western series on practicall...

Re: What Christmas Comics Have You Bought Recently?

Bob also drew comic strips, for smaller publishers I think, I have a comic with one of his strips on the cover which he signed as Ramon.

Re: Complete Collections

It was Valiant & TV21 and had Star Trek in full colour in the centre pages. I'm not sure but I think that's the only time Valiant had colour pages inside. With the original TV Century 21 I bought each copy as it was published and remember towards the end they started putting football photos on the c...

Re: What did you get for Christmas?

I got books 9-13 in Dewey Lambdin's Alan Lewrie naval history series of novels. Just twelve more to go as Lambdin died recently so no more novels. But I still have the Thomas Kydd, John Pearce and Carlisle and Holbrooke series' which are all ongoing. Started reading naval history novels in the mid 1...

A seller on eBay has 84 issues of Girls' Crystal on dvd. One of the stories shown has a girl named Enid Travers.

Phoenix is our expert on girls' comics but he hasn't posted on here for a while. Is anybody in contact with him?

Re: Jean Sidobre

Grand Comics Database gives his real name as Georges Levis and the following:

Born: 1924 August 7 in Toulouse, Haute-Garonne, France

Died: 1988 March 31 in Le Mesnil-Saint-Denis, Yvelines, France

It has a list of publications he worked on under that name.

Nobody has mentioned Princess comic, but from my memory I cannot remember any girls boarding school stories in them. DC Thomson didn't do text stories in Bunty or Judy did they?

Commandos v Zombies

Saw Commandos v Zombies in Smiths today, art by Vincent Alcazar who I remember from American comics. Nobody has mentioned this collection on comics UK to my knowledge. The enlarged art looks a bit untidy. Has anybody else come across it?

Re: WAS ALF TUPPER A COCKNEY?

I've just indexed a 1965 Dandy onto GCD and the Corporal Clott story made me wonder where it was set? I had to add "local natives" to the characters section and then wondered where they were natives of?
