Re: Some ebay sales figures for first issues of UK comics
I'm enjoying this thread, so I thought I'd contribute a few recent eBay final sales that caught my eye: Nutty No.1 complete with free gift (Space Dust) sold for £145.99 (28/11/11) And although not first issues, some of the following sale values were interesting: Tornado No.3 complete with free gift ...

Re: Remember, remember
Hi folks, As this thread is fairly new, I'd just like to try one more time and ask whether anyone remembers a Guy Fawkes board game which comprised 3-4 centre pages (collected over 3-4 weeks) of I think either Whizzer and Chips, Whoopee or Buster, probably sometime on October between 1978 - 1980 (ca...

Do you have the dates of those issues as I would like to collect them. Thanks.

Re: Guy Fawkes board game pull-out: IPC late 1970s
No, although interesting, that's unfortunately not what I remember. It was definately a series of pull-outs that you collected over 2-3-4 weeks to make a game.
But thanks for posting the ad Peter, can you tell me the comic name and date?

Guy Fawkes board game pull-out: IPC late 1970s
Bit of a long shot this one, but does anybody remember a Guy Fawkes board game as the centre pull-out from either Whoopee/Whizzer and Chips or Buster, circa 1977-1979? I recall it was a feature over 3 or 4 weeks and you stuck the centre pages to card to make a Guy Fawkes board game. My hazy memory s...

EBAY HAS A LOT TO ANSWER FOR!
Hiya Brisey, As a buyer on eBay (not a seller) I find that I sometimes watch a lot of items that I already own, without wanting to place a bid, just to see what people are prepared to pay for them. I realise that eBay does not always accurately reflect an items true worth, and sometimes a fool and t...

Buster Holiday Special Original Artwork
Thanks for the information Lew and Shaqui - it confirms my thoughts.
I suppose the next question is - does anyone have this 1988 Buster Special for sale? I have checked the usual comic sellers and nothing doing. Will of course keep my beady eye on eBay as well.

Buster Holiday Special Original Artwork
Yes that?s what I was thinking.
And we can see from the Specials gallery on this site that there were two versions of the 1984 and 1986 Buster specials. Did this perhaps happen for 1988?
Anyone know?

Buster Holiday Special Original Artwork
Hey guys, I recently bought a piece of Buster holiday special artwork - see image - but I do not know from which year it is from, I'm guessing from the price on the art (70p) that it's the late 80s? Can anyone enlighten me as I cannot find the image in the Specials gallery on the site. Perhaps this ...

Comic-related Clubs in the 1970s
Another post about adverts in comics got me thinking about the clubs that readers of comics in the 1970s could join. I belonged to the Beano and Dandy clubs (who didn?t?), the Warlord Secret Agent Club, the Bullet Fireball Club and the Plug Sports and Social Club. With the exception of the Plug stuf...

Re: adverts in comics
Anyone into the airfix modellers club with Dick Emery which was in Buster late 70's As an aside, I joined that club because of the adverts. I was a sucker for all that and used to try and sign up for all the clubs: Airfix Modellers Club, Warlord's Secret Agent Club, the Bullet Club, Beano and Dandy...

The London ABC Show: Sunday 17/09/06
I?ve just noticed on The Book Palace?s website the details of the next ABC show in London: Sunday 17th September 12:00-17:00 at the Royal National Hotel in London - same venue as last time. Free admission. I went to the last ABC show and found it very interesting, and I?ll definitely plan to go this...

Binding Comics
I?ve seen bound copies of titles such as Monster Fun recently on eBay and it struck me as odd, something I?d not be interested in at all. However, back in the late 1970s and early 80s I used to collect the British version of Mad Magazine and I bought several of their purpose made binders. They worke...
