Re: WHO ARE YOUR TOP 5 BANDS/MUSICIANS?

Trouble is Best of the Byrds goes from the fantastic early jangly guitar stuff to the country and western Muzak at the end. The sublime to the ridiculous. Has any other band changed so much (and not for the better)?

A very good question.
I personally love all Floyd albums but agree with you ...

Re: WHO ARE YOUR TOP 5 BANDS/MUSICIANS?

I suppose Pink Floyd, although I hated the early years and preferred the later. I know others the complete opposite. I'd be the same with Fleetwood Mac. I guess though, both really weren't the same band, just the same name, if they have lost the main songwriting talent (although, I think for the ...

Re: WHO ARE YOUR TOP 5 BANDS/MUSICIANS?

Joy Division
Band of Holy Joy
Durutti Column
Trembling Blue Stars
Blueboy (the Sarah Records version)

....that said, the Sisters of Mercy and the Smiths were key to my social life and the Razorcuts wrote my favourite song. I suppose the Fall and the Blue Aeroplanes should be in there too. The ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

That's what I meant really. Just being in the time period we are in. On so many nostalgic Facebook etc pages, there always seems to be a dig because this generation likes Roblox instead of D&D or that it's wrong to prefer Ben Oliver's books to the 1974 Hotspur annual, without any mind that was what ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I find TV was way better in the past. Not saying there aren't any gems today. Of course there are. But I find it's so saturated nowadays. Difficult to find quality programmes. Most are space fillers.

My era was watching Junior Kickstart. Playaway. Runaround. Summertime Special. Multicoloured ...

Now just after the Bullet Sports Special
Plus Warlord and Bullet 220 - 231 (got half of these already).
A much underrated comic. One of the ones that surprised me most when I began recollecting a couple of decades (!) ago.

It's Celtic scoring, so it's obviously not excellent. Very disappointing I would say.

Re: Ncuti Gatwa Axed From Dr Who

I'm all for liberal ideaologies. Beats the hell out of this hard right division and hatred permeating through the US and Europe these days. I didn't even think the stories were too bad in Whittaker's run, although obviously aimed at a much younger audience than me. I don't think that's a bad thing ...

Re: Ncuti Gatwa Axed From Dr Who

I would just add that I think Whittaker is a great actor but was given terrible scripts (in general).
Must admit I recently re-watched Jodies' second series and compared to Gatwas' first series her episodes look like Star Wars vs Playschool.

Being a bit controversial, whilst I love many of their ...

Re: Ncuti Gatwa Axed From Dr Who

Didn't watch his first season after the first 10 minutes of the Xmas special, but I've really enjoyed about 80% of these series 2 shows. Very inventive storytelling.
Ncuti is a good actor. Although I prefer the miserableness of Hartnell and Capaldi, and don't like wimpy Davison and Whittaker. I'm ...

Re: Your Favourite No.1s

For me, 2000AD No.1 was just about perfect. However my favourite was my introduction to Marvel with Avengers No.1. I read it again and again until the cover came off - and the next issue was even better.

The interior, yes. But terrible front cover and boring free gift. Issues 2 and 3 were much ...
