New Albion's Origins book

Have to say I agree with Lew I thought that the Bolland cover was excellent and was in the spirit of the originals (but updated) . I feel it would certainly make comic fans (as oppossed the the narrow UK nostalgia fanbase) pick this book up - Bolland is a major draw for a lot of fans - the strips th...

"FWADDAPP!"

The Beano ref was only a "fantasy" in reference to the original posters comments on what he could have done in the UK - As you say he would have been unlikely to work on a UK comic (not his style really) Martin moved to Craked magazine (a poor version of MAD) after his copyright problems with MAD - ...

"FWADDAPP!"

Don Martin was a true original and a total one off - loved his work and used to pick up the Mad paperbacks like CAPTAIN KLUTZ when ever I came across them- but for me his one off pages in Mad (and to a much lesser extend in Cracked) were works of genius that were always funny - How many cartoonists ...

The Daily Page - Buster 1960

Another fantastic Daily Page (following on from the excellent WHAM and Hurricane pages) I advise all to have a read : On BUSTER there are (so far) 4 amazing strips that I have never heard of before are these UK drawn/written or European in origin - they all have a very different feel to them : The T...

20 almost-forgotten I.P.C. strips......

For me IPC produced a lot of instantly forgetable strips (in among the classics) some because the idea never caught on , they just got forgotten or some it has to be said that were just plain bad - Forgotten gems (and not so sparkly Strips I REMEMBER ARE: The Spooktacular 7: a good strip by Brian Wa...

New books on comics

The only books I am aware of apart from the usual suspects (DCT Classic Annual and the Best of Broons / Oor Wullie) are a Captain Britain (vol2) book) and what I assume is another new Commando collection the "Anzacs Wars" (I don't read war stories very often so this may be a reissue) -There is alway...

What do you like in the past ..the Dandy spanning 70 years?

Your a star Peter- Umbrella men look brilliant these strips should come back with a more modern spin on them (not an American spin though ie costumes etc)

best christmas annual

I agree with Colcool they were all great and for my age band (over 21, well over...) annuals were a major part of Xmas . As I have an older brother, who also loved comics we got twice the amount between us - The special ones for me were the Odhams annuals - I only got 3 Odhams annuals as a kid as my...
