Re: Spellbound reprint

No official word yet, though Colcool said in another thread that it was supposed to be re-released sometime this year. If DCT plan to do more reprints I don't think this is a good start, whatever the reasons for pulling it, a short statement saying it would be re-released later would have been appre...

Re: DC Thomson Heritage Comics?

I did wonder if I was the only one that managed to get a copy of Spellbound before it mysteriously disappeared. It seemed a nicely put together book too, with some of the new stories too. I did email the dct archives to enquire about this and got a reply that they forwarded on my enquiry to heritage...

Re: Susy - French Comic

Cathy may be a sister title, they both have that "collection primevere" symbol.

It is interesting how many stories were translated into different languages.

Susy - French Comic

I just came across a French comic on ebay "Susy" wondered if anyone was familiar with it. What caught my eye was a cover that is the same as Debbie Picture Story Library "Lost on Planet X", though it seems to be bigger format https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ykkAAOSwxYxU0ID4/s-l1600.jpg I didn't recog...

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

Thanks very much Derek for all that information! I can add it to my spreadsheet which I keep as a quick reference, then continue to update my site as Mandy is currently the comic I'm concentrating on. As you have issue #579 and "My Bionic Budgie" doesn't end in it and I have issue #581, it would be ...

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

That would be very helpful, I've the shorter running comics covered already, but some major gaps in the longer running ones like Bunty and Mandy. As you have been discussing Mandy if you could give me information from the years 1976-1978 that would be great. All in your own time of course, no rush. ...

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

Well I'm happy to be able to repay the help you have given many a time! If you have them already noted that's great, but if I can be of further assistance you can let me know. I've been doing some trips to library to fill in some Mandy gaps recently too. This morning I went swimming with Ruby, our l...

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

Well I'm a little late for your deadline, but here's the information I can help with: Mandy 457 - I don't have this issue 459 - two new stories start Sad Songs for the Family Four and The Alice Band 462 - one new story Electra the Sister with the Transistors one story ends Penny for Your Thoughts 46...

Re: Worst problem parents in girls serials

Nice list. The Suzy story that you are thinking of is "In Sheena's Shadow" (the sister that died was called Sheena not Sheila) it appeared #182 (1 March 1986) – #192 (10 May 1986) The Farmers from "No Place Like Home" are more parents whose priorities are all wrong, they put money and snobbery befor...

Re: Worst problem parents in girls serials

I can think of a couple for each of those categories mentioned. Overbearing Parents No Friends for Fran (Suzy) - where a mother is so overprotective of her daughter she doesn't allow her to leave the house in case she gets ill. Then she nearly kills them when she burns some "contaminated" clothes an...

Treasury of British Comics - Sale

The Rebellion treasury line has a sale on right now, lot of stuff going at half price, so good time to check them out, if there are books you were thinking of buying. Some are selling for as little as £5.50. https://treasuryofbritishcomics.com/catalogue I've already got a number of these books, but ...

Re: New Tammy & Jinty Special coming

As we're getting closer to release some new information about the special is coming out. That girl with the football is "Rocky of the Rovers" (Roy of the Rovers' sister). Other established characters appearing are Bella at the Bar, Justine and Maisie's Magic Eye and it seems the other stories in the...
