Also Miracleman returned in The Beano. But you all saw that, I'm guessing?

Comics by kids in my Comic Art Masterclass
I've been travelling far and wide bringing my Comic Art Masterclasses to kids, and here are some of the results. These are the front covers of the comics that each class produces, in a morning or an afternoon, and takes away. Each comic contains a strip by every single one of them and a caricature b...

Re: Recommendation of books about comics
I can recommend the Essential Guide to World Comics by Tim Pilcher & Brad Brooks for an up to date and comprehensive survey of the world's... well, what it says on the cover. http://i43.tower.com/images/mm101989978/essential-guide-world-comics-brad-brooks-paperback-cover-art.jpg Also Men Of Tomorrow...

blah blah Black Butler blah blah I've hovered around this title and had the odd browse at Forbidden Planet, Kev, and it looks quite intriguing. Have you read it? Would you recommend it? It's not bad, state of the art, and gets better about halfway through, having kept me well baffled for the first ...

Re: ABCs for Jan-Jun 2011 - disappointing results...
I honestly think the discussion of the styles of artwork here is a red herring. Personally I like the newer innovative creators like Jamie Smart and the parody strips spearheaded by Nigel Parkinson's Harry Hill, and believe they are much more attractive to young readers than old-fashioned styles of ...

Re: ABCs for Jan-Jun 2011 - disappointing results...
I'm a bit late to this news, but it is dreadful and surprising. My anecdotal feedback from the kids I work with in schools has been very positive towards The Dandy. When scattering the comics around the tables, they always seize upon "Harry Hill comic", almost as keenly as Doctor Who and Sponge Bob....

Re: Harry Hill in Toxic AND the Dandy?
There's no comic strip inside, though - just a crap photo feature with Harry in it. No permission needed for those, so I doubt if the man himself is involved? Do you need permission to feature someone in a strip? Given that that's the Dandy's big thing at the moment, I'm assuming not. So what's to ...

Harry Hill in Toxic AND the Dandy?
The Dandy has featured Harry Hill as its star attraction for nearly a year now, and very good it is too. They even proudly emblazon on the cover phrases like "Exclusive" and "The Only Comic With Harry Hill In". So how does that explain this week's Toxic, and its big cartoon Harry Hill on the cover? ...

Re: Comic Art Masterclasses in schools
Some more front covers of comics produced by the kids in my Comic Art Masterclasses in schools. Working usually with two groups in a day, each pupil goes away with a comic book named by the group containing a strip by every single one of them a caricature of every one of their faces, plus they've le...

Re: Comic Art Masterclasses in schools
In my Comic Art Masterclasses, I teach kids how easy and fun it is to draw comic strips. I encourage them to copy from comics, which I scatter around the table (as well as showing them many other ways of learning to draw). It's always a treat when they choose to copy or be inspired by my drawings an...

Re: Comic Art Masterclasses in schools
Kev F's Comic Art Masterclasses (and the Scottish Falsetto Socks) have seen me doing some hell of a travelling this week. My new car has an extra 1000 miles on the clock since Monday, from Clevedon via Bourne in Lincolnshire and Harrogate in North Yorkshire. And it's the various primary schools of B...

Re: Vandalism!
The most vandalised comics I've seen are my Look-Ins. Every week I used to get them and adore the artwork by the likes of Martin Asbury, Harry North, John Burns and Mike Noble. In fact I liked it so much, I used it to illustrate my Picture Diary, a page-a-day diary I wrote from age 12 to 18 which fe...

Re: Comic Art Masterclass - online questions
In my mission to singlehandedly revive the junior comics readership, my Comic Art Masterclasses have seen me schlepping round more schools all over the country. Last week it was Belfast, the week before it was Dublin. This week's comics, which you can see at the link below, are from school pupils in...

Re: MCM v Kapow v Bristol v anywhere else. Who's best?
On another forum I've just been reminded of Thought Bubble in Leeds in November. I may well make my debut as an exhibitor there. Now to invest in one of they pop-up stands that everyone has these days.

MCM v Kapow v Bristol v anywhere else. Who's best?
So, I have managed through my work to miss the three big comics Must-See events of 2011 so far, Kapow in London, Bristol in Bristol, and now MCM Expo in London which, if these photos by Rich are anything to judge by: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/05/27/daleks-divas-and-dickheads-bleeding-cool-at-...
