Re: What comic related items did you get for christmas

Found a few comic related goodies under the ol' Christmas tree: Pandarve: the Worlds of Don Lawrence, Beano annuals from 2003 (inc. rather scary inside cover artwork and a dodgy CGI Dennis & Gnasher strip) and 2016. The 2000AD Future Shock DVD... ... and purchased a load of Summer and Holiday specia...

Re: ICE this weekend

Hey Lew.... Was hoping to pop up from Bristol but have a horrid feeling I might be working - deadlines. Darned fine selection of guests so would certainly be a nice con to visit and say hello.

Re: Rocket Comic 1956 Full Set

Hi Adam, Looking at the comics a Buy It Now of a £100 is maybe a tad low (although I'd certainly buy them at that price). Comic Book Postal Auctions have sold a few sets over the years, the latest being 2013 for £271 (missing issue 16). They've also sold other sets (some were bound copies and gained...

Got a bit carried away there with my calculations. It wasn't £6000 but just under £5200.

Re: Some ebay sales figures for first issues of UK comics

Either Russian billionaires are making a move into British comic collecting or someone's won the lottery! At the moment those 18 issues are going to cost 'w***w' almost £6000. The prices are so crazy will probably discover it's just an 8 year old playing about with their dad's eBay account. It just ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Abacus, I'd keep walking and do eBay. Spread that comic catching net far and wide and still keep fit. Speaking of eBay I've just received issues 1 and 3 of Kobra - the German version of Vulcan. Kobra started with the same edition as the Scottish Vulcan plus the same free gifts but due to the odd met...

Re: What did you get for Christmas?

Comic based things found under the tree:

Woodwork:Art of Wallace Wood 1927-1981
Art of Herge (1950-1983)
History of 2000AD - Thrill-power Overload (a compact little book)
and a friend bought me some Dandy assorted fudge. Crikey, that's a sugar hit and a half!

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Not a comic, but I've picked up a promo badge used for the opening of Forbidden Planet 2 on eBay - I'm a sucker for anything by Bolland and the badge features one of characters from the shop advertising poster he did. Never seen one before so for me it was a bargain at a mere couple of quid. Loved t...

Re: cover artist

Funnily enough the first thing that cover reminded me of wasn't actually a comic cover but the Dorothy McGuire film The Spiral Staircase. Although an image of scared girl dressed in nightie coming down spooky staircase holding a candle waiting for handsome man to save her must have been used umpteen...

Well done Marc.... Look forward to seeing the strip. It'll be a big ol' thrill buying your first Beano (or Beano's I should say - One to keep and one to read) with your own art inside.
Just looking at your Marc Makes Comics web page - Great stuff! :)

Re: Bags & boards

Hi Bri. I just typed OLD 2000AD SIZE BAGS into eBay and there are loads of them on there. I guess the Beano's will fit A4 sized bags. Comicjohn sells all sizes from Birmingbrum, so should be able to get all the bags you need. There are other sellers as well. Noticed some with Shiver and Shakes in ba...

Ooof, blooming marvelous links Al!!! On a deadline but had to stop to take a gander as I've NEVER seen the footage of the Trigan cover painting!! Funnily enough I have the Storm page painting on VHS which is a LOT longer and includes a long phone conversation with Martin Lodewijk at the beginning - ...
