Never heard of it to be honest. But having a quick look at your links shows it to be no more than a Thundercats tv tie-in. Was hoping for more "original" content such as the Esso comic of yore

Re: comics on c-d rom
Hi Digi , I was just saying that as a business , if something fell below acceptable margins , then it would uncerimoniously get the chop. Nothing is sacred when it comes to making a profit. Perhaps a bit apocalyptic on my part , but just making the point that if it did happen , then we would be talk...

Re: comics on c-d rom
Hi Lew and indeed everybody else too, Lew , I was not trying to portray you as somebody acting out of self interest. I was painting with a broad brush in that I was referring to comics of the more recent past , say over the last 20 years or so being effectively off limits to scanners. That is why I ...

Re: comics on c-d rom
Lew said : No one is saying you shouldn't scan comics to store for personal use. Lew , perhaps you misunderstood what I was saying. I am talking of scans for future public use not personal use per se , though that of course does come into play. It's a sad fact of life that comics as we know them are...

Re: comics on c-d rom
I think the iPad would probably be better suited for old british comics Steve. Perhaps it's the way to go. Offer a full run of your favourite old comic or a year on year volume for X amount as a download and a limited collectors bound print run of say 1000. This could be offered across the full spec...

Re: comics on c-d rom
I'm not defending anybody but if I worked for a T.V. license collection company then no way would I encourage anybody not to pay their T.V. license if it meant me losing my job because of no income. That's just the way of the world. Perversely , on the other hand , back in the day when BBC and ITV w...

Re: What Shall We Do?
Correct marketing is the solution. If the current team at D.C. aren't up to the challenge ,well then , fire them. Harsh but true. A business is a business. Results are everything. Time for a few mavericks to shake and bake. If nothing is done , it will not be long before every artist , writer and le...

Re: What Shall We Do?
Hi Digi , I don't mean using old brand names - something new and current - hadn't really thought about the comics names to be honest. Let's see - Quake! for the boys i.e. us 8) and maybe Mia for the girls. Any other suggestions for the title names , folks? As I already mentioned , the comics wouldn'...

Re: What Shall We Do?
Hi Tin Can Tommy, I was actually thinking more along the lines of new stories using the cream of talent today coupled with the still living masters of yesteryear with a nod to the past. Adventure , crime , romance , humour , supernatural , sci fi , etc Two gender specific titles that would appeal to...

What Shall We Do?
So it's official , the Dandy is to be no more come end of year , at least in hard copy form. A sad end to a great comic , but we should still celebrate the fact that it lasted so long. That just leaves the Beano and Commando - the last two sentries from the old days. I feel as the last major comics ...

Re: comics on c-d rom
Hi Lew, Yeah , no problem. We each have our stance on the subject and I know we respect each others views. Anyway , it's time for the old Cap to move on. I have really enjoyed our tête-à-tête down through the years on this forum and I'll probably miss that most of all. Still. you know how to get hol...

Re: John Nigel Cantwell aka Phabox
Hi Paw, Yes , I am acutely aware of his demise. A sad loss to the scanning community. His work in digital preservation is enormous. A thankless task now but one which ultimately will be celebrated. He will be missed. I did contact a good few comic enthusiasts about his passing but alas it was met wi...

Re: comics on c-d rom
I must admit that what started off as a bit of fun has now degenerated into cold speculation. The charge that I have no friends is very unsettling. And I am deeply hurt by this change in tact. The additional charge that I did not apply a capitol letter to God is interesting. To say that this post is...
