Re: Sparky 1965 to 1973

Chris! `Snip & Snap` are a really funny strip! I highlighted their `adventures` in my `Sparky-File` (A Personal & Illustrated history of the comic on `word`) My favourite was the one where they broke a Window- but tried to get Postie to take the blame! In the final panel, Both dogs and Postie hidin...

Re: Sparky 1965 to 1973

Well, as I am having a clear-out in advance of getting married next year, I discovered that my (almost-complete) run of Sparkys from no.403 to no.500 contained Snip and Snap as well as Puss 'n' Boots - two of my favourite-ever strips. Thank you to people here in solving (what was to me) the mystery ...

Re: Something new is happening to Commando in early June!!

There is an article about Commando in today's Daily Mail - rather than scan it on here you just have to go to Mail Online and search for Commando. Its a bit Jingoistic - surprise surprise. I presume it's OK to link to the story that Commando is printed in Germany and will continue to be permanently...

Five hours left if you haven't seen Just Dandy yet.
Thanks Digifiend, didn't spot it from the title.

It shows the issue being sent to print!

The Final Print Dandy: Press Comments

Mods, please feel free to merge this into another thread, but the press are cottoning on to the end of the Dandy and I couldn't see where to put their comments. Re: This weeks Dandy

Such a shame - these last weeks of the Dandy are marvellous.

The current issue with Bananaman on the cover says above the logo "75 glorious years! It can only be... THE DANDY" with a signpost planted in a smelly sock
"ONLY
5
ISSUES
TO GO".

Don't see a serial number on issue dated 10 October.

Poignant take on health and safety:

"SHRIEK! Shaving with a blowtorch is REALLY bad for you, Dan!"

Re: This weeks Dandy

Have you seen the advert in this week's Dandy ? If I didn't know better, I would say that the Dandy is just bowing out. I can understand the logic - transfer any readers to the Beano after the Dandy finishes in print form. But even so... yes, in the red star bottom right, we read "we'll switch you ...

Re: This weeks Dandy

I really liked it in Bananaman strip this week with a kind of Abbey Road thing with Smasher Brassneck, Corpral Clott and Eric, a real nice touch. I thought so too. Last week, I was talking to a boy who loved jokes like the "aerial shots of Mexicans" which he hadn't seen before. But he had never hea...

Re: This weeks Dandy

Given the closure announcement, I picked up "The Dandy" from Tesco for the second week running. It's actually really good - packed with funny stories and my kind of jokes about "Little did I know of the events that were about to unfold in the woodland. That's because they were in the future and hadn...

Re: Guardian article: The Dandy Faces Closure

i suppose i can start buying 2000ad again after a few years gap now dandy is finishing. I bought one recently, having stopped in 2007 after 30 years because of the newsagent thinking "It isn't really suitable for little Chris" due to all the bonking. It wasn't bad (and it was largely sex-free) but ...
