Re: What comics did you buy today?
I only knew 'Charley's War' by Joe Colquhoun so finding these two 'Johnny Red' last Monday was quite a discovery. I picked up 'London's dark' along with the other two

Re: What's the most you've spent on a comic/collection?
I do remember DCT excercizing the power to shut down a restaurant called 'Desperate Dans' in central Edinburgh, back in the 80s. I am not surprised... strangely enough, there seems to be a Desperate Dan's restaurant in Tenerife  https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g659661-d122282...

Re: What's the most you've spent on a comic/collection?
I remember the Intrepid Fox pub in Wardour Street (London) used to have a comic book heroines theme (Tank Girl and the likes) even though some of the artworks were already partly faded... I have never seen one named after a comic strip character. A character like Andy Capp would make a good name for...

Re: What age were you most enthusiastic regarding comics?
I only started collecting comics when I started to work. Before that, I was borrowing them from my local library. So from the age of, say 20 up to my 30s, I was actively collecting them. I have never been obsessed with completing series and often find that one book in a series is enough as, these da...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I agree :) Her 'Tamara Drew' and 'Gemma Bovery' are must-reads too. Yes, those appeared in The Guardian . I should really have cut every instalment out. Are they now in book form? Yes, they exist as graphic novels :) A movie was even made from 'Tamara Drew' but I thought it was kind of dumbed down ...

Wow, I had never heard of that advertising technique George... Thank you for taking the time to post about it. Here's a quote from the wikipedia page on whisper campaigning: "Alcohol and tobacco companies have used whisper campaigns to promote their products since the early 20th century. Liquor comp...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Again not a comic as such but a nice book about comics: Great British Comics by Paul Gravett and Peter Stanbury. I had borrowed it from the library a few years ago and thought it gave a nice overview of British comics so I bought it last week.

Re: How are UK comics quoted values determined?
I made a very short and non-exhaustive list below. I don't know where to put it on a more permanent basis. The reference section maybe? Websites and/or Publications of reference for the quoted values of comic books. The resources listed below can be used by collectors to determine the value of a com...

Re: How are UK comics quoted values determined?
So my question is: is there an equivalent of Bédéthèque for the British market, an official website or physical publication, that pretty much does the same job and can be used as a reference to determine the actual value of a comic? Just as a guide, Nagorama, you could check the asking prices on 30...
