Re: No more Megazine...

Yes, the BeanoMAX was absolutely awful in the last few years of it's existence. Honestly, I'm shocked it lasted so long.

Re: Ever Been Frisked By A Security Guard?

I don't get what all the mockery is about. An innocent civilian was harrassed without notice by an overzealous security guard who should have been fired. I can certainly understand why he would think someone rushing out a shop without buying anything is a shoplifter. What he should have done is just...

Simpsons Comics is more enjoyable than The Beano, Mike - and I don't even like the latest issues! :)

"Inappropiate" stuff in UK kids humour comics

Re: Smudge and Number 13 by Alan Ryan

For some reason I thought Danny Diddly O'Donoghue was drawn by Nik Holmes (who drew Clown Wars for the 2011 Dandy). Kind of a huge missed opportunity to bring Fiddle O'Diddle back instead. They could have even had Tom Paterson draw it, given that he drew a few strips for the digital Dandy last year....

Anyone read these? I do, but they've been a bit boring and formulaic lately. It's always a main plot about Lisa and a sub-plot about Homer or Bart and eventually they connect in the end. Then again, now that I think of it, the humour in them was never really clever (and in some cases, non-existent).

Re: Phoenix reaches 100

I think The Phoenix is just using a bit of hype for the benefit of the media, in the same way The DFC claimed to be the first new children's comic in 25 years. The irony is, that, unlike in the other situation you mentioned, none of us can think of a "proper" independent comic that launched ...

You likely wouldn't have found any copies even if you knew it was Waitrose that (supposedly) sold them!

Re: Found in Attic

Mutt and Jeff were referenced in the Simpsons episode "Helter Shelter" where Bart says the comics aren't funny, "they're gay, I get it".
