Re: What comics did you buy today?

In Forbidden Planet they had all the Free Comic Book Day (Which was cancelled in May) comics on the shelves. In our shop there is usually a limit of two free comics per person, therefore I asked at the counter how many I could have and to my surprise they said I could have as many titles as I wanted...

comics reflecting history

Comics before , let's say the 50's were not exactly p.c. , full of racial stereotypes , what should we do with these comics , burn them? bin them ?and lose part of our history or except that people saw the world differently then and move on.Society evolves ,newspaper page 3 , beauty contests and man...

Re: Lockdown rambles ( without pics.)

I leave for Kempton Park at around 8.30am and don't get home until about 2.30pm without once needing a toilet. Why do people have such weak bladders? I used to arrive at work around 9.30am and not use the toilet until about 5.30pm. I could have been a superhero. Look its Super Bladder Man! See how ...

Re: Lockdown rambles ( without pics.)

I should imagine the difference between antiques fairs and carboot sales is that the antique dealers are well clued up on the goods they are selling. Regarding lockdown missed going to the free comic book day event which should have been this month and was postponed but hopefully will be re-instated...

Lockdown rambles ( without pics.)

Spend a lot of my TV time watching Youtube , that's from movies to documentaries and even painting and drawing tutorials to help try and improve my art dabs. Something I watched that I was unaware of before ,but you folks probably knew was the american comic grading system, which reminded me of the ...

Re: Comics - What is Your Favourite Moment or Memory?

In the 50's most of my comics were delivered with the morning newspapers and I eagerly awaited their arrival on the allotted days of the week.At that time new comics were well advertised in advance and I remember getting the first copies of Lion, Tiger, TV Fun etc.One memory that remains was the iss...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Cycled the few miles to the charity shop I usually visit once a month (hard work for an old guy like me) to see if they had any comics. Searched through the four boxes of comics they had and could only find two Marvel comics of interest. They have a children's area with lots of annuals and I was happ...

Re: British Comic Swapmeet 28th September

Kudos to Bruce Scott for organising a gret day out and thanks to Steve "Action Man" MacManus", Mike Dorey, Alan Hebden and James Nicholas for being kind enough to give up of their time and let us fanboy all over him. I'm sure that there is no such thing as a 'gret day', Col, nor a verb 'to fanboy'....

Bought the 1936 Big Christmas Wonder Book for a £1 from a carboot sale at the weekend and As I flicked through the pages I became slightly puzzled. The book contains poems and stories by famous authors and has many black/white illustrations, but there was a section illustrating the coronation of Edwa...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Back from a weekend at Ingoldmells, kept a look out for any comic related items and was surprised to find this large 300 odd page King features book for £6 (see pic) in one of those holiday bargain stores .They had at least three copies and I had no hesitation buying this one. A 10 min ride into Ske...
